The role

As an Aircraft Support Equipment Technician, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. You will play a key role in ensuring the equipment that underpins critical defence training is safe, reliable and ready whenever it is needed. This is an exciting opportunity to use your technical expertise to support the delivery of high-quality training that helps prepare personnel for real world operations. Your work will directly contribute to keeping people safe, enhancing national security and strengthening the next generation of defence capability

 

Day to day you will be required to:

  • Carry out scheduled and unscheduled maintenance, inspections and repairs on aircraft support equipment and ground training aids.
  • Complete all supporting documentation accurately and on time in line with service requirements.
  • Identify and request appropriate spare parts to maximise equipment availability.
  • Follow all health, safety and environmental procedures while contributing to continuous improvement.
  • Support other engineering tasks within your competence as directed by the Service Manager.

 

Please note that the successful candidate will be required to pass a targeted medical questionnaire and or medical examination as a condition of employment for this role, and the position involves manual work which may include lifting, bending, using tools or standing for extended periods of time.

 

The role is based onsite at Lyneham, and the set working times are 37 hours per week, Monday to Friday. Once probation is passed, there will be an opportunity to work a four day week while maintaining the same total hours.

 

Essential experience of the Aircraft Support Equipment Technician:

  • Experienced and qualified in Aircraft Support Equipment.
  • Strong knowledge and experience of aircraft maintenance procedures.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Confident using Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, email and internet tools.
  • Practical experience within aircraft maintenance or related engineering environments.

 

Qualifications for the Aircraft Support Equipment Technician:

  • Formal Aeronautical Engineering training and practical experience at minimum Level 3, covering the maintenance of aircraft, aircraft support equipment or ground training aids.
  • Full UK Driving Licence category B.

 

Security Clearance

The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
