About this role

Join Axon and be a Force for Good.

At Axon, we’re on a mission to Protect Life. We’re explorers, pursuing society’s most critical safety and justice issues with our ecosystem of devices and cloud software. Like our products, we work better together. We connect with candor and care, seeking out diverse perspectives from our customers, communities and each other.

Life at Axon is fast-paced, challenging and meaningful. Here, you’ll take ownership and drive real change. Constantly grow as you work hard for a mission that matters at a company where you matter.

Your Impact

Axon is building a unified, AI-driven public safety platform spanning body-worn cameras, in-vehicle systems, sensors, drones, and cloud-connected edge devices. The Vice President of Connectivity & Wireless will establish and lead Axon’s Wireless & Connectivity Center of Excellence (WCoE), with end-to-end accountability for all wireless technologies that power mission-critical, officer-facing systems.

This executive will own the architecture, execution, reliability, and evolution of connectivity across Axon’s device ecosystem, ensuring deterministic performance, regulatory compliance, and seamless integration with Axon’s AI and cloud platforms. This role reports to senior engineering leadership and operates as a platform owner across product lines.

What You’ll Do

Work Location:  We rely on in-person collaboration and ask that team members work onsite Tuesdays through Fridays, with the flexibility to work remotely on Mondays, unless there is an approved workplace accommodation. We believe that connection fuels innovation, and our in-office culture is designed to foster meaningful teamwork, mentorship, and shared success.
Reports to: SVP, Connected Devices

Key Responsibilities

  • Own Axon’s end-to-end wireless strategy and roadmap across Cellular (LTE/5G/FirstNet), LMR (P25 and related), Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, UWB, future private networks and more.

  • Establish and lead a Wireless & Connectivity Center of Excellence, providing shared architecture, RF design, validation, certification, and field-performance ownership across all device programs

  • Define AI-aware connectivity architectures supporting real-time video, audio, telemetry, and latency-sensitive edge inference

  • Drive multi-radio coexistence, reliability, and redundancy in RF-hostile public-safety environments (on-body, in-vehicle, urban, rural)

  • Own carrier engagement, standards participation, and regulatory compliance (FCC, PTCRB, GCF, FirstNet, global equivalents)

  • Partner deeply with device, cloud, AI, security, compliance, and manufacturing teams to deliver platform-level outcomes

  • Lead vendor and chipset strategy, including make/buy decisions, cost optimization, and long-term silicon partnerships

  • Be accountable for field performance, incident response, and continuous improvement across the product lifecycle

Experience & Qualifications

  • 10+ years leading wireless engineering organizations with hands-on depth in RF systems, antenna design, EMC, and coexistence

  • Proven ownership of end-to-end wireless stacks: hardware, firmware, OS integration, and system validation

  • Experience scaling wireless platforms across multiple products or ecosystems, not one-off devices

  • Knowledge and/or experience with LMR technologies (e.g., P25, TETRA, DMR, analog/digital hybrids)

  • Understanding of public safety, defense, or mission-critical communication requirements in reliability, latency, coverage, Interoperability and regulatory and certification constraints (FCC, regional standards)

  • Knowledge and/or Experience integrating LMR alongside LTE / 5G / Wi-Fi / Bluetooth in a single device or platform

  • Demonstrated success managing multi-radio coexistence in dense RF environments

  • Track record of resolving real-world field failures, including customer escalations and carrier or regulatory issues

  • Comfortable partnering with product, cloud, security, and compliance teams

  • Led large, cross-functional engineering teams (HW, FW, SW, QA, manufacturing) with ownership of roadmaps, strategy, make/buy decisions and vendor and chipset partnerships

  • Experience shipping high-reliability, regulated hardware products on real timelines at scale

  • Discretionary paid time off

  • Paid parental leave for all
