About this role

Job Summary

The Process Engineer II is responsible for the preparation of the deliverables of the Process Design Packages in the frame of Licensing contracts, on the specific tasks described here below and under the supervision of Senior Process Engineer, Principal Process Engineers or Process Manager. 

JOB DUTIES/Responsibilities 

To participate in the development of process books by: 

  • Understanding the flow scheme with minor modifications 
  • Simulating the complete flow scheme with minor changes to the project needs 
  • Developing the PFDs and MMDs 
  • Understanding the P&IDs development and specific instrument/control needs 
  • Specifying equipment, lines and instruments 
  • Writing the process book with minimal supervision 
  • Writing the operating instructions using technology template modified for the scheme 

To possibly participate in other more specific tasks: 

  • Providing help to Technology Expert or Tech Service Engineer 
  • Executing some Process Studies and technology improvements 
  • Participating in the startup of industrial facilities 
  • Working on documents for Methods, Standards, or Procedures 
  • Assessing unit operating performance and interpreting site data 
  • Implements process control, process standards and safety interlocks as needed 
  • Highly knowledgeable and demonstrated ability to comply with Design & Development Procedures.

 

Accountabilities for Health Safety and Environmental: 

  • Assure compliance with all Health, Safety, and Environmental procedures 
  • Assure compliance with Process Safety Management procedures 
  • Safety Hazards and Process Hazards Analysis familiarity 
  • Responsible for maintaining process safeguarding documentation (i.e. PSVs, Interlocks, SIL, etc.) 

 

Technical 

  • Ability to obtain TWIC card, if needed 
  • Moderate knowledge in hydrocarbon processing is required, more specifically experience in at least two of Axens technologies 
  • Ability to design all process related equipment including columns and reactors 
  • Ability to lead PFD review meeting with client 
  • Understanding of P&ID development/modifications 
  • Proficient in using most Process Engineering tools 
  • Ability to work on revamp projects 
  • Process engineering support to on-site Technical Services staff 
  • Proficient in use of process simulation modelling tools (Pro II) 
  • Excellent computer skills (including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and potentially other Microsoft Office programs) 
  • Demonstrated interpersonal and communication (technical writing, presentation, listening) skills 
  • Understanding the application of safety methodology and reviews (Process Hazards Analysis, Layers of Protection Analysis, etc.), including safeguarding 
  • Highly confident, articulate individual who is a team player and works well with others internally and externally 
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, be able to respond to changes in priorities and seek advice when challenges or uncertainty arises 

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemical or Petroleum Engineering required 

Work Experience

  • More than three (3) years refining/petrochemical industry experience plus demonstrated ability to complete work assigned.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or related software.

  • Assist in the continual improvement of an effective Integrated Management System complying with the requirements of ISO 45001:2018
  • Assist in achieving Site, Departmental, Regional and Global Health and Safety goals and objectives 

Environmental:

  • Take responsibility for the sustainability of Axens and protecting the environment  
  • Report any and all environmental concerns or incidents to your manager 
  • Maintain awareness, proactively participate and support all Axens policies regarding environmental protection
  • Assist in the continual improvement of an effective Integrated Management System complying with the requirements of ISO 14001:2015
  • Assist in achieving Site, Departmental, Regional and Global Environmental Management Program goals and objectives
