The Opportunity

Join a leadership team of actuaries, data scientists and engineers at the forefront of leveraging data to drive decisions at every level of our organization. The insurance industry is undergoing a data-driven, technology revolution and you will be in the driver’s seat.

The GIS Manager will lead the development and implementation of geospatial capabilities within the company, supporting key business areas such as Data Science, Pricing, Underwriting (UW), and Exposure Management. This role is responsible for the strategic direction, people management, and operational excellence of the GIS function, ensuring geospatial technologies deliver business value.

What you’ll do:

  • Oversee, develop and mentor a highly productive team of GIS Specialists & Data Scientists.

  • Establish a vision with stakeholders and create a culture that treats geospatial data and data science as essential assets.

  • Lead the development and deployment of modern GIS tools and business solutions.

  • Deliver on an ambitious GIS roadmap to transform our business operations and manage future climate risk.

  • Stay current with advancements in GIS technology and best practices.

What you’ll bring:

  • 7+ years of experience in GIS analytics, Data Science or other analytical roles.

  • Cross-functional skills that allow you to straddle the worlds of climate science, data science, engineering & core insurance functions.

  • The ability to not simply build a great algorithm or solution but also to generate buy-in, excitement and support for the offering.

  • Excellent leadership skills and a track record of high engagement, innovation and empowerment of your team.

What makes you stand out:

  • Experience in GIS analytics using machine learning techniques.

  • Recognition as a clear subject matter expert in the intersection between GIS analytics concepts and machine learning solutions

  • Experience in the insurance or financial sector is highly desirable

What you’ll get:

  • The salary band for this position ranges from $140,000 to $160,000. Please note that individual salary is determined by factors such as job-related knowledge, skills and experience, as well as internal equity.
