Position Summary
The Senior Sales Manager is responsible for driving group and corporate business to maximize hotel revenue, occupancy, and market share. This role focuses on proactive sales efforts, relationship development, and strategic account management while supporting overall sales and revenue goals. The Senior Sales Manager works closely with the Director of Sales, Revenue Management, Marketing, and Operations to deliver strong financial results and exceptional client experiences.
Key Responsibilities
Sales & Revenue Generation
- Proactively solicit and secure group business through outside sales calls, site visits, networking events, and industry functions
- Develop and manage a targeted account base to generate new and repeat business
- Meet or exceed assigned revenue goals, room night production, and ADR targets
- Respond to RFPs, negotiate contracts, and close business in alignment with hotel strategy
- Maintain accurate forecasting, booking pace, and account activity in the CRM system
Account Management & Relationships
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key clients, meeting planners, travel managers, and local partners
- Conduct hotel site tours and represent the property with professionalism and brand integrity
- Partner with operations and catering teams to ensure seamless event execution and guest satisfaction
- Retain and grow existing accounts while identifying upsell and cross-sell opportunities
Strategy & Market Awareness
- Collaborate with the Director of Sales and Revenue Management to align pricing and sales strategies
- Analyze market trends, competitor activity, and demand patterns
- Participate in weekly sales meetings, strategy sessions, and budget planning
- Support hotel marketing initiatives, promotions, and brand campaigns
Reporting & Administration
- Maintain accurate records in CRM and sales systems
- Prepare sales reports, forecasts, and activity updates as required
- Ensure compliance with brand standards, sales processes, and contract guidelines
Requirements
Qualifications & Experience
- 3–5+ years of hotel sales experience, with a focus on group or corporate sales
- Proven track record of meeting or exceeding sales and revenue goals
- Strong negotiation, presentation, and closing skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Proficiency in CRM systems and Microsoft Office
- Knowledge of hotel revenue management principles
Preferred Experience
- Experience in full-service or lifestyle hotels
- Familiarity with brand systems (Envision and Opera)
- Local market knowledge and established client relationships
