Position Purpose   


The Electrical Technician Instructor is responsible for providing subject matter instruction to students in a classroom or lab setting. This position is required to teach assigned classes as scheduled or as assigned, and perform administrative functions related to teaching.


Key Duties



  • Provide engaging and effective teaching in electrical theory, safety, and hands-on applications while ensuring alignment with industry standards and best practices.

  • Create a positive classroom and lab environment that supports active student participation, collaboration, and individualized learning.

  • Oversee administrative responsibilities, including maintaining accurate attendance and academic records, and ensuring compliance with institutional policies and safety regulations.

  • This position ensures that the electrical technician training program effectively prepares students for workforce readiness, aligning with employer expectations and contributing to the institution’s overall mission and student success.


Job Responsibilities



  • Teach electrical courses in both classroom and lab settings, fostering an inclusive and interactive learning environment.

  • Instruct students on the proper and safe use of tools, materials, and equipment, emphasizing OSHA standards and jobsite safety procedures.

  • Maintain lesson plans, instructional materials, and lab activities in collaboration with program leadership and fellow instructors.

  • Ensure the classroom and lab remain organized, clean, and fully equipped, reporting any maintenance or supply needs to the appropriate personnel.

  • Monitor and document student attendance, academic progress, and performance in accordance with institutional guidelines.

  • Enter grades, evaluations, and other required documentation into school systems accurately and on time.

  • Support and encourage students to succeed through proactive engagement, mentoring, and the implementation of retention strategies.

  • Participate in required training, in-service sessions, and staff meetings to remain current in instructional methods and industry trends.

  • Stay informed of industry advancements and maintain professional certifications as required.

  • Perform other duties and special projects as assigned by the Program Coordinator or Campus Leadership.


Required Qualifications 



  • High School Diploma or GED

  • Minimum of four (4) years of hands-on experience in the electrical trade OR three (3) years of teaching experience in electrical or related programs

  • Strong understanding of electrical tools, systems, codes, and safety practices

  • Effective verbal and written communication skills, with a focus on student engagement and instructional clarity

  • Strong computer skills, including proficiency in MS Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams)

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, performance-driven environment

  • Highly organized, dependable, and able to manage multiple tasks and deadlines

  • Positive and professional attitude, with a commitment to student success


Preferred Qualifications  



  • National Center for Construction Education and Research (The NCCER ICTP Certification is required before instructors start teaching classes. Company will pay for certification.)

  • OSHA 30-hour safety certification within 6 months of hire date.

  • CPR certification current or within 3 months of hire date.

  • Electrical Journeyman or Master License preferred


Work Schedule (evening shift)



  • Monday - Thursday: 1:30pm – 11:00pm 

  • Friday: 10:00am – 2:00pm
