Commercial Project Intern

JOB SUMMARY

The primary focus of this position is to assist the Superintendent with maintaining a safe and organized job site and to assist Project Engineers with project specific administrative tasks.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist site Superintendent in maintaining a safe and organized job site.
  • Collaborate with subcontractors to ensure their compliance with site safety standards.
  • Assist Project Engineers with project documentation in Procore which may include bid documents, contracts, submittals, RFI’s, bulletins, and meeting minutes.
  • Observe and/or interact with various professionals related to the construction field including project team members, subcontractors, and vendors.
  • Deliver architectural samples and construction drawings to job sites and pick up supplies as needed.
  • Assist with coordinating project related meetings and distributing project communications.
  • Assist Project Engineers with bid contact calls.
  • Assist Superintendent with monitoring of building and site conditions.

 

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Currently enrolled in a college or university program, preferably in Construction Management or similar field
  • Construction experience is helpful but not required
  • OSHA certification is a plus but not required
  • Willing to get training and be certified in telehandler operation

 

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Ability to follow directions and work independently or as part of a team
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong computer skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office programs

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

The work environment described here represents what the employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. 

 

The employee works in both an office setting and in a job trailer at a construction job site. When on site, this position may be exposed to a variety of weather conditions and terrains. In addition, this position may include periods of standing, walking, climbing, bending, and kneeling. Must be able to occasionally lift up to 50 pounds at a time and carry building materials.
