About the Role: 

Own the quarterly and annual sales planning engine for sales: aligning growth goals, segmentation, and coverage model. Drive input for long-range plan & annual operating plan while producing executive-ready materials for key forums. 

Team & Structure: Within Sales Strategy & Excellence (executes on strategic initiatives & coordinates cross-functional efforts); core member of the Sales leadership cadence. 

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Lead quarterly and annual sales planning, aligning growth goals, segmentation, coverage/territory design, capacity, and resource allocation. 
  • Collect and synthesize worldwide sales input for long-range plan & annual operating plan; drive CRO review/approval and codify enterprise priorities and decisions. 
  • Build executive-ready materials and run the cadence for quarterly business planning, quarterly business review, preparation for annual operating plan & long-range plan, and growth priority reviews; document decisions, owners, and timelines. 
  • Surface risks and trade-offs with clear options and recommendations; secure timely leadership decisions and ensure follow-through. 

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Marketing, or a related field. MBA or relevant advanced degree preferred.
  • A minimum of 10 years of experience in sales strategy, planning, and operations, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
  • Proven track record in driving annual and quarterly sales planning processes, aligning sales strategies with corporate growth goals.
  • Experience working in a high-growth, dynamic environment, preferably within the technology or software industries.

Skills and Competencies:

  • Strong strategic and analytical thinking skills with the ability to synthesize complex information and develop actionable insights.
  • Excellent project management skills with the ability to lead multiple high-priority projects simultaneously.
  • Proficient in collaboration and communication, particularly in developing content for executive-level presentations and meetings.
  • Demonstrated ability to work closely with senior executives, including Chief of Staff and Chief Revenue Officers, to drive strategic initiatives and sales planning.
  • Strong understanding of sales segmentation and coverage models, with experience in optimizing these models to drive sales performance.
  • Capable of managing and prioritizing shared analyst resources to ensure effective utilization based on project needs.

Leadership and Management:

  • Proven leadership experience with the ability to manage, mentor, and develop a high-performing team.
  • Strong decision-making skills with experience in resource allocation and project prioritization to maximize strategic outcomes.
  • Ability to foster a culture of excellence, collaboration, and continuous improvement within the sales strategy and planning team.

Technical Proficiency:

  • Proficiency in sales planning and analytics tools, as well as advanced skills in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
  • Familiarity with CRM and ERP systems, with the ability to leverage these tools for informed decision-making and strategic planning.

Additional Qualifications:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey complex ideas clearly and persuasively.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build and maintain relationships across various functions and levels within the organization.
  • High level of integrity and professionalism, with a commitment to enhancing organizational effectiveness and driving business success.

Salary transparency

Salary is one part of Autodesk’s competitive compensation package. For U.S.-based roles, we expect a starting base salary between $213,500 and $345,400. Offers are based on the candidate’s experience and geographic location, and may exceed this range. In addition to base salaries, our compensation package may include annual cash bonuses, commissions for sales roles, stock grants, and a comprehensive benefits package.
