Position Overview 

Join us at an exciting moment in Autodesk Fusion’s evolution. As a Principal Software Development Engineer, you’ll play a key role in shaping the future of Fusion Bill of Materials (BOM) - a rapidly growing product area with significant investment, an ambitious roadmap, and plenty of greenfield opportunities.  
You’ll be part of a newly formed team where you’ll influence architectural decisions, guide technical strategy, and lead the delivery of Fusion BOM capabilities that connect design intent with downstream manufacturing and lifecycle workflows at scale.  
You'll be collaborating with our global teams in North America, Europe, and Asia. 

Location: Kraków, Poland (hybrid work model)

 

Responsibilities 

  • Provide technical leadership for the Fusion Bill of Materials domain, contributing to architectural decisions and long-term technical strategy 

  • Design, build, and evolve cloud-connected services and client-side functionality that power BOM workflows across Fusion 

  • Lead development of complex, cross-cutting features, ensuring solutions are scalable, secure, and maintainable 

  • Partner closely with Architects, Product Managers, Experience Designers, and other Fusion engineering teams to translate customer needs into high-quality software 

  • Set a high bar for engineering excellence through design reviews, code reviews, testing strategies, and operational best practices 

  • Mentor and influence engineers across the team and beyond, helping grow technical depth and shared ownership 

  • Proactively identify and address technical risks, performance challenges, and system limitations, driving continuous improvement across systems and processes 

  • Capable of acting as Product owner for the team, balancing the requirements from different sources like product management or architects, as well as improving services. 

  • Empowering team to daily usage of AI coding agents (e.g., Cursor, Claude Code, Codex, or similar) to plan, implement, test, debug, and document production software. 

Qualifications 

  • Graduate or Postgraduate in Computer Science, Engineering, or related technical fields 

  • Lead position on the successful delivery of a commercial cloud product 

  • Good understanding of business drivers and ability to articulate them clearly. 

  • Experience influencing technical strategy and guiding teams without direct authority 

  • Proven ability to mentor and develop technical talent within the organization. 

  • Proven capability to lead incident response, drive root cause analysis, and implement preventive measures 

  • Experience with software development lifecycle (SDLC) processes, tools, and Agile methodologies 

  • High expertise in object-oriented design patterns 

  • Strong hands-on TypeScript (Node) and Java (Spring Boot)

  • Knowledge of React is an advantage

  • Hands-on Experience with AWS or other cloud providers 

  • API development experience (REST, GraphQL, gRPC) 

  • Experience with CI/CD concepts and working with a deployment pipeline such as Jenkins 

  • Demonstrated experience in using AI coding agents to produce high-quality, secure, maintainable code - by writing clear specs, managing LLM context, constraining scope, and rigorously verifying outcomes 

  • Strong English communication skills, with experience leading technical discussions and presenting complex ideas to varied audiences
