Position Overview

Are you an experienced SDET with an interest in sustainable software quality best practices and tools? Do you enjoy steering and supporting development teams to deliver high-quality software at scale? Are you proactive, open minded, and comfortable independently defining approaches while collaborating with diverse stakeholders? If so, we’d love to hear from you!

At Autodesk, we are reinventing how everything you see or touch is imagined, designed and created. In Autodesk Construction Cloud, we are reinventing how every building, bridge, hospital, campus and stadium is built. Our platform allows customers to effectively and easily manage the complex collaboration and coordination necessary to see their projects through all phases of construction.

The Design for Construction team delivers a range of desktop and web-based products within BIM Collaborate and BIM Collaborate Pro. As a Principal QA Engineer, you will lead testing strategy and quality outcomes for large-scale features and major releases, while owning and evolving automation frameworks and practices used across teams. You will help shape quality practices beyond your immediate team, working across disciplines, and influencing quality direction at the organisation and management level.

Responsibilities

  • Define and lead test strategies, plans, and release readiness for complex, large-scale platform features, ensuring alignment with product, engineering, and architecture stakeholders.

  • Design, develop, and own scalable automated tests, tools, and frameworks, integrating them into CI/CD pipelines and continuously improving scalability, efficiency, reporting, and pipeline integration.

  • Establish and maintain consistent quality gates and coverage expectations across teams and major releases.

  • Coach engineers on sustainable testing practices, including developing and delivering training to broaden adoption of effective automation approaches.

  • Collaborate with developers, architects, product managers, and experience designers (XD), serving as the quality engineering voice in cross-discipline and cross-team discussions across services and product areas.

  • Influence quality-related decisions across engineering organisations and at the management level through clear communication, data-driven insights, trade-off analysis, and application of the latest in industry testing best practices.

Minimum Qualifications

  • 5+ years of SDET experience, including desktop or web automation.

  • Deep understanding of software testing concepts, practices, and trade-offs, with experience leading or owning test strategies for complex features or services.

  • Experience working with multiple testing frameworks (e.g. Cypress, Selenium, TestComplete).

Preferred qualifications

  • Experience automating both desktop and web applications.

  • Experience architecting and evolving a feature-rich, scalable automation platform.

  • Experience collaborating across multiple teams and products to drive alignment on quality practices.

  • Experience coaching engineers to adopt a strong testing mindset.

  • Experience developing front-end web applications using modern frameworks (e.g. React) and leveraging AI coding tools to build tests at scale.
