For the latest news from Aurora, visit&nbsp;<a href="https://aurora.tech/" target="_blank">aurora.tech</a>&nbsp;or follow us on&nbsp;<a href="https://www.linkedin.com/company/auroradriver" target="_blank">LinkedIn</a>.</p> <p style="margin: 0px; padding: 0px;">&nbsp;</p></div><p>Aurora hires talented people with diverse backgrounds who are ready to help build a transportation ecosystem that will make our roads safer, get crucial goods where they need to go, and make mobility more efficient and accessible for all. <span style="font-weight: 400;">We’re searching for a </span><span style="font-weight: 400;"><strong>VP - Tech Foundations.</strong></span></p> <p><strong>In this role, you will</strong></p> <ul> <li>Own the core technology infrastructure of Aurora, encompassing the platforms &amp; tooling used in design, implementation, and management of systems and infrastructure used to build Aurora Driver with a Petabyte-scale Data Platform, MLOps Infrastructure, the Aurora Developer Experience pipeline (code, build, test, and deploy) and underpinning Aurora Connected Services.</li> <li>Partner closely with the Software Engineering teams that develop Aurora Driver, Aurora Connected Services, Aurora Maps, to help shape the strategic vision and deliver the technical roadmap for Aurora's Infrastructure.&nbsp;</li> <li>Build &amp; maintain a modern cloud-based AI infrastructure, ensuring maximizing throughput on development pipelines, whilst minimizing cost-of-operations and time-taken to drive iterations of Aurora development processes.&nbsp;</li> <li>Drive technical excellence and innovation, championing best practices in software development, architecture, system efficiency and reliability.</li> <li>Combine technical leadership with organizational strategy to ensure Infrastructure empowers every part of Aurora - from product innovation to operational excellence.</li> <li>Lead a highly cross-functional environment, collaborating closely with SW Engineering, Product Management, CyberSecurity, Legal and Finance.</li> <li>Attract, hire and develop industry-leading Software, Data and ML engineers, leaders and operations staff (think DevOps, DataOps, MLOps, Cloud SRE)</li> <li>Foster a team culture of collaboration, excellence, and delivery</li> <li>Drive effective partnerships internally and externally with senior executives</li> </ul> <p><strong>Required Qualifications</strong></p> <ul> <li>Engineering Leadership experience at a company operating at scale that is dealing with mission critical systems (safety critical experience a bonus)&nbsp;</li> <li>Excellent communication skills, with the ability to influence and align senior leaders and stakeholders across the company as well as external partners.</li> <li>Strong business acumen and the ability to make strategic decisions that balance technical trade-offs with business needs.</li> <li>Exceptional strategic thinking with the ability to align technical solutions with organizational goals.</li> <li>Demonstrated success in building and leading teams responsible for large-scale infrastructure and/or developer/data platforms.</li> <li>Demonstrated experience recruiting, building, structuring, scaling technical organizations, including performance management</li> <li>Proven track record of delivering significant performance and efficiency improvements in large-scale systems.</li> <li>Experience in Distributed Systems, Data Infrastructure, ML Frameworks/Platforms, and Cloud native technologies (e.g. Kubernetes, AWS etc).</li> <li>Demonstrated experience in building &amp; managing highly-available cloud-services and infrastructure for business continuity and mission critical services.</li> </ul> <p><strong>Desirable Qualifications</strong></p> <ul> <li>Experience with Machine Learning infrastructure and tools.</li> <li>Experience working on large scale infrastructure.</li> <li>Experience in transitioning growing startups as they scale to market-leading enterprises.</li> </ul> <p>The base salary range for this position is $350,000 - $400,000. Aurora’s pay ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, the successful&nbsp;candidate’s starting base pay will be determined based on factors including job-related skills, experience, qualifications, relevant education or training, and market conditions. These ranges may be modified in the future.
