He angitūtanga: The opportunity


An opportunity has arisen to work as a Library and Council Services Assistant in the Waitākere Ranges Local Board.


In this role you will work with the Glen Eden and Titirangi library teams to deliver outstanding customer service to our diverse Waitākere Ranges community.


Our library whānau is focused on caring for each other, our community, and our environment. We are looking for a flexible all-rounder to join and contribute as part of a high-achieving, cohesive, and dynamic team. You will be supporting the team and contributing to the day-to-day running of the library. As this is a customer service role, you will be helping customers from all walks of life.


Many of our libraries are open 7 days a week so flexibility around working days, including weekends and late nights, is required. We are looking to fill a 26-hour permanent position currently worked Monday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday.

You will have strong people skills, are flexible and adaptable to a library environment. You have a passion for customer service with a positive attitude towards serving people of all ages and backgrounds. You are eager to learn new skills and thrive in a busy work environment.


 We are looking for someone who:
•    Is enthusiastic and willing to be involved in the delivery of programmes, activities, and events as needed
•    Brings a can-do attitude – reliable, full of ideas, and ready to make things happen.
•    Is digitally confident, understands and uses technology creatively and with confidence, able to support customers to successfully use information resources and devices.
•    Has a strong people focused, and empathy driven work ethic. Along with a positive attitude, pride in their work and in the ability to influence others positively.
•    Is reliable, adaptable and fosters great relationships with the team and our community.
•    Can demonstrate experience working with a diverse range of people.
•    Demonstrates excellent written and communication skills with a strong people focus.
•    Demonstrates an understanding of Te Ao Māori values and principles.
