He angitūtanga: The opportunity
Parks & Community Facilities (PCF) is dedicated to making great places Aucklander’s love by supporting several related services such as asset maintenance, management and renewals of Parks, Open Spaces, Buildings, Facilities, Conservation Areas and Urban Ngahere (forest). As kaitiaki (guardian) of Auckland Council facilities, we play a vital role in promoting the wellbeing of our communities and environment while also delivering strategically significant programmes.
You’ll have the opportunity to work alongside other contract managers in a unit that manages NZ’s largest local government-built service contracts worth more than $120 million, while also delivering on Auckland Council asset maintenance service – with assets that range from open spaces, arboriculture, ecology to community buildings across the region.

You’ll also support kaitiakitanga and being responsive to the needs of the Māori community and be willing to contribute to the department’s Māori Responsiveness Plan.
He kōrero mōu: About you
We’ll be looking for your commercial acumen and a track record of managing contracts; and ideally managing built and open space maintenance contracts. Your experience in a contract management environment will be key, and you’ll bring with you the ability to easily build and maintain effective relationships with contractors, management, and other stakeholders.
You’ll have knowledge and experience in procurement, contracts, health and safety legislation, and ideally local government. As this role will manage interactions with various stakeholders (including engagement with Local Boards, Council Controlled Organisations, Iwi and the public) a background in delivering results and innovation in a public profile environment would be advantageous. Consideration will be given to a background in contract law, with the ability to interpret legislation and provide solutions to contractual issues.
