About this role

The Ambulatory Licensed Practical Nurse is a member of the collaborative interdisciplinary team. The Ambulatory Licensed Practical Nurse utilizes the care process consistent with their license and within their scope of practice. The practice of nursing as a Ambulatory Licensed Practical Nurse is defined as performing tasks and responsibilities within the framework of case finding; reinforcing the patient and family teaching program through health teaching, health counseling and provision of supportive and restorative care, under the direction of a Registered Nurse or licensed Physician. The Registered Nurse is responsible to oversee any necessary coordination of the interdisciplinary plan of care and provides for its consistency with the medical treatment plan.

Licensed care providers responsible for utilizing the care process relative to their scope of practice and knowledge base, document both objective and subjective physical findings and interventions. All patient care activities are administered according to standards, organizational policy and procedural guidelines.

The Licensed Practical Nurse actively supports performance improvement initiatives by participating in educational activities. The Licensed Practical Nurse assumes responsibility for continued professional and personal growth.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.

LICENSE/CERTIFICATION: Current licensure as LPN in the State of New Jersey. Current BLSHCP.

SPECIALITY EXPERIENCE

Family Medicine/Urgent Care

3-5 years clinical experience including pediatric experience required; strong organizational skills preferred.

 

Internal Medicine

3-5 years clinical experience in medical/ surgical required; strong organizational skills preferred.

 

Pediatric Pulmonary

3-5 years pediatric nursing experience required; strong organizational skills preferred.

 

 

 

Trauma Outpatient

3-5 years medical/surgical experience required; strong organizational skills preferred.

 

Clinic Services

3-5 years clinical experience in medical/ surgical required; strong organizational skills preferred.

 

Infectious Disease

3-5 years clinical experience in medical/ surgical required; strong organizational skills preferred.

 

Mission Services

3-5 years clinical experience in medical/surgical required; strong organizational skills preferred.

PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONS

Demonstrates the ability to perform the department specific competencies as listed on the Assessment and Evaluation Tool.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Potential for exposure to the hazards and risk of the hospital environment, including exposure to infectious disease, blood-borne pathogens, hazardous substances, and potential injury.

  • considerable reaching, stooping, kneeling and crouching
  • extensive standing and walking
  • lifting approximately 25 to 50 pounds frequently
  • lifting approximately 50 to 100 pounds with assistance occasionally
  • pushing and pulling of heavy equipment

This position reports to the patient care unit leadership.
