Job Summary
The NPI Manufacturing Engineering Manager is responsible for leading and supporting all manufacturing activities on the production floor to ensure continuous operation of the lines. This role oversees sample rooms and laboratory work, coordinates training programs, and drives process improvements using Lean methodologies. The position ensures compliance with quality standards, manages resources effectively, and implements best practices to optimize productivity, reduce defects, and support new product introductions.
Responsibilities
Support all manufacturing activities on the production floor to maintain operational lines.
Supervise sample rooms and laboratory work, ensuring resource scheduling and knowledge development.
Provide daily supervision, training, and utilization of manufacturing engineering staff and sample room employees.
Coordinate production staff training in IPC 620 standards in collaboration with Quality.
Manage labor and material flow to meet product schedules, maintain equipment, and improve performance.
Implement Lean tools and other measures to enhance efficiency and productivity.
Organize routine equipment maintenance and calibration as needed.
Maintain an updated skills matrix for manufacturing engineers and production employees.
Implement Manufacturing Work Instructions (MWI) and Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) for workstations and lab activities.
Ensure compliance with established quality systems, company policies, and work standards.
Hire, train, and manage manufacturing engineering employees, including annual reviews.
Ensure effective use of direct labor resources and promote critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
Collaborate with Quality and Engineering departments to analyze and resolve quality issues.
Develop cost-reduction recommendations and implement approved programs.
Approve transition from Process Validation (PV) to Mass Production (MP) for new product launches.
Identify and implement process improvements.
Perform other assigned duties as required.
Requirements
Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
5+ years of experience in electronic manufacturing and cable assembly.
Knowledge of quality systems and standards.
Familiarity with manufacturing machines and tools.
Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office.
Experience in engineering principles, technology, and best practices.
Preferred knowledge of business principles, finance, and management.
Experience in production processes, techniques, and Lean manufacturing.
Demonstrated skills in planning, organization, time management, attention to detail, and decision-making.
Excellent communication, delegation, influence, and leadership skills.
Ability to work in teams, manage conflicts, and handle stress effectively.
Familiarity with ISO 9001, ISO 13485, FDA, IPC 610 and 620 standards highly preferred.
Strong listening and problem-solving abilities.
