Position Summary
The Industrial Engineering Manager is responsible for leading and optimizing manufacturing operations and driving operational excellence within a regulated medical device environment. This role ensures the highest standards of safety, quality, and efficiency while implementing continuous improvement initiatives through Lean and Six Sigma methodologies. The ideal candidate is a strategic leader with deep experience in medical device manufacturing, regulatory compliance, and operational transformation.
Key Responsibilities
Direct all Time Study and Line Balancing activities across the entire manufacturing footprint to ensure optimal throughput and efficiency.
Own and manage the company-wide Headcount Allocation process, defining required ratios for indirect/service areas (e.g., technicians, quality inspectors, material handlers).
Strategically plan and forecast headcount requirements for New Product Introductions (NPIs) and future business growth needs.
Maintain ownership of the Bill of Materials (BOM) for products.
Ensure rigorous compliance with FDA, ISO 13485, and all other relevant domestic and international regulatory standards.
Lead the Operational Excellence roadmap, defining and implementing Lean initiatives that improve process efficiency, reduce waste, and enhance product quality.
Oversee the Training Department and establish clear training certification programs for technical and soft skills development.
Develop and implement strategic plans to scale operations and support aggressive business growth targets.
Collaborate cross-functionally with Quality, R&D, Regulatory, and Commercial teams to align operational goals with business objectives.
Monitor and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) and operational metrics to drive performance, predictability, and accountability.
Manage departmental budgets, financial forecasts, and capital expenditure requests.
Champion and embed a strong culture of safety, quality, and continuous improvement throughout the organization.
Mentor and develop high-performing Industrial Engineering teams and identify future organizational leaders.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Operations Management, or related field (Master's preferred).
10+ years of experience in medical device manufacturing or similar regulated industry.
Proven leadership in operational roles with increasing responsibility.
Certified Lean Six Sigma Black Belt or equivalent experience.
Strong knowledge of FDA regulations, ISO standards, and GMP practices.
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills.
Effective communicator with strong interpersonal and leadership abilities.
Preferred Skills
Experience with ERP systems (e.g., INFOR, FUSION SAP, Oracle).
Background in automation, digital manufacturing, or Industry 4.0.
Track record of successful cost reduction and process optimization projects.
Ability to lead change in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
