Security officers are responsible for maintaining the overall security of a property. Security officers use many different tactics to prevent theft, vandalism, and damage to properties. They may patrol the property in a vehicle and may maintain records of who enters or leaves the property, either at a front desk or a front gate. They may keep track of signing visitors in and out and monitor incoming deliveries. Security officers generally assist guests with providing information and directions. Employees protect the property and its inhabitants from fire risks and other safety violations. They respond to emergency situations by communicating with emergency personnel and potentially handling physical threats by restraining offenders. They may also maintain parking regulations and ensure parking lot security. It is important for a security officer to be aware and alert at all times, constantly being aware of risks and concerns.
