Overview: 

ASRC Federal Systems Solutions (AFSS) is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Technical Intern to join our team for an internship opportunity. This role is ideal for students or recent graduates looking to gain hands-on experience in a dynamic, fast-paced technology environment. As a Technical Intern, you will work closely with experienced technicians and cross-functional teams on real-world projects that contribute directly to our products and services. This is a valuable opportunity to enhance your skills, expand your professional network, and gain insight into the inner workings of a leading Defense Contracting company

This position supports Operations and Maintenance (O&M) for the Modernization of Enterprise Terminals (MET) and the Milstar Satellite Communications terminals. The Terminal technicians provide 24/7 shift coverage to perform O&M of the SATCOM terminals and associated baseband equipment. The terminal technicians are also responsible for additional duties, facilities, power, and other tasks as needed by company/contract leadership. The Milsatcom Technician will: 

  • Provides Operation and Maintenance (O&M) for SATCOM terminals and related equipment. Performs equipment status monitoring and operation. 
  • Coordinates and responds to messages from interfacing organizations such as tech control, DISA, and network control centers. 
  • Troubleshoot links, trunks and circuits. 
  • Performs preventative maintenance on assigned equipment. Troubleshoots equipment problems and performs corrective maintenance. 
  • Supports equipment upgrades. 
  • Performs work center quality inspections. 
  • Performs work center additional duties and logistics activities to include forward supply point, bench stock inventory and ordering. 
  • Performs training and maintains training records. 
  • Supports other contract functional areas as required 

 

Responsibilities: 

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Must work towards completion of SATCOM/communications/systems operations and/or maintenance course or gaining equivalent experience on site.
  • Must be able to work shift 
  • Requires an active U.S. Government Secret Security Clearance  

Education/Experience: 

  • Currently enrolled and pursuing a bachelor's degree technical career field
  • Must have a current DoD 8570 certification (Security+)
