ASRC Federal System Solutions LLC, a subsidiary of ASRC Federal, is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to support our work at the Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL) at Edwards, AFB, CA.  

 

Key Role:

  • Pressure vessel and piping design. Familiar with ASME B31.1 B31.3 B31.4 
  • Fluid mechanics & thermal dynamics. Cryogenic temperature requirements 
  • Stress analysis including thermal expansion and fatigue
  • Consideration of high-pressure operations, cryogenic temperature, & hydrogen embrittlement 
  • Must have experience in sizing and design layout for multiple systems to include oxidizers, fuels, hydraulics, and pneumatics  
  • Must have experience using design software to include Solidworks & AutoCAD 3D
  • Familiar with ASME Standards (Y14.1/Y14.5)
  • Support buildup and execution of tests for propulsion systems
  • Lead/participate in technical reviews
  • Support Test Safety and Facility Readiness Review boards
  • Familiar with Test environments 
  • Will be required to perform FMEA analysis
  • Lead/participate to provide updates to leadership/safety 
  • Support the build-up and test execution at assigned Test Sites
  • Support operation of test panels during static testing of liquid rocket engines and solid rocket motors in high-altitude simulated vacuum chambers 
  • Be able to write and edit Work Authorizations for technicians to complete work assignments
  • Assist in assembly, troubleshooting, and maintenance of mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, cryogenic, steam, and vacuum systems
  • Support development of test procedures, technical documentation, and safety review documentation
  • Develop drawings as needed and ensure AFRL test site’s Configuration Management folder is updated

 

Education/Experience

  • BS Degree in Engineering or a related field
  • 2-4 years of experience
  • Technical Writing ability
  • Demonstrated increase in experience and abilities

 

Clearance:

  • Ability to obtain a DoD Secret Security Clearance Required
