As the Head Swim Team Coach, you will lead the Club’s competitive swim program, fostering a positive, sportsmanlike, and team-oriented environment for all swimmers while upholding the pride and image of Army Navy Country Club.

High-Level Responsibilities:

  • Lead the overall swim team program in collaboration with the AGM of Aquatics, and the Aquatics Committee, ensuring consistent communication and coordination with assistant coaches.
  • Promote and model sportsmanship, teamwork, leadership, and professionalism among all swimmers and coaching staff.
  • Plan, conduct, and oversee all swim team practices, ensuring a structured and effective training program throughout the CCSDA season.
  • Direct and manage swim meets, including strategy, line-ups, and staff coordination. Attend all swim meets and ensure proper execution of events.
  • Supervise and mentor assistant coaches, providing guidance, training, and support to foster staff development and excellence.
  • Participate in swim team-related meetings and social events, including pep rallies, CCSDA meetings, and the end-of-season awards banquet.
  • Oversee practice and meet preparation, including pool setup, equipment management, and safety protocols.
  • Collaborate with coaching staff to identify candidates for individual swimming awards and recognize athlete achievements.
  • Provide swim lessons or clinics as opportunities arise, ensuring high-quality instruction in line with ANCC standards.
  • Ensure all coaching staff adhere to ANCC policies, including proper attire at practices, meets, clinics, and lessons.

Seasonal Schedule Details:

  • Swim team practices begin the day after Memorial Day and conclude at the end of July.
  • Practices are held Monday through Friday at the Arlington Aquatic Facility.
  • Swim meets are generally conducted on Tuesday and Thursday evenings, with occasional exceptions.
  • Swim lesson rates are set by instructors with approval from the AGM, Aquatics.

Requirements:

  • Significant competitive swimming and/or coaching experience, preferably at a head coach level.
  • Proven ability to lead, motivate, and mentor athletes and coaching staff.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and teamwork skills.
  • CPR, First Aid, and Lifeguard Certification (or ability to obtain prior to season).
  • Ability to work effectively with children, parents, and fellow coaching staff.

Physical Demands:

  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to work outdoors and in varying weather conditions.
  • Ability to stand, walk, and actively participate for extended periods.
