As part of the Aquatics Team, the Junior Team Head Coach & Lessons Coordinator plays a key role in developing young swimmers, overseeing coaching staff, and coordinating swim lessons, all while fostering a safe, positive, and team-oriented environment.
Position Summary: The Junior Team Head Coach & Lessons Coordinator is responsible for leading the Junior Swim Team program, providing guidance and mentorship to swimmers and coaching staff, and managing swim lesson programs for members. This role emphasizes swimmer development, coaching excellence, and operational coordination of lessons.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead the Junior Swim Team program, including planning and conducting all practices, meets, and developmental sessions.
Provide mentorship, instruction, and support to all Junior Team coaches and swimmers.
Oversee swim lesson programs for members, including scheduling, lesson assignments, and instructor supervision.
Promote stroke development, technique improvement, sportsmanship, teamwork, leadership, and professionalism among all swimmers.
Attend all Junior Team “B” meets, developmental swim meets, and team-related events.
Ensure proper attire and safety protocols are followed by coaching staff and swimmers during practices, meets, clinics, and lessons.
Collaborate with coaching staff to identify candidates for individual swimming awards and provide recommendations to the AGM, Aquatics.
Communicate regularly with parents, members, and coaching staff regarding progress, scheduling, and program updates.
Assist the AGM, Aquatics, and Aquatics Committee with operational and administrative tasks related to the Junior Swim Team and lessons programs.
Seasonal Schedule Details:
Junior Team practices begin the day after Memorial Day and conclude at the end of July.
Practice days and times will be determined based on team scheduling and lesson program needs.
Swim lessons are scheduled throughout the season, with instructor assignments approved by the AGM, Aquatics.
Strong ability to work with children, parents, and coaching staff.
Excellent communication, teamwork, and instructional skills.
CPR, First Aid, and Lifeguard Certification (or ability to obtain prior to season).
Physical Demands:
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
Work outdoors and in varying weather conditions.
Stand, walk, and actively participate for extended periods.
