Position Summary:
The Assistant Swim Coach supports the Head Swim Coach and Aquatics Team in the execution of a competitive swim program. This role emphasizes coaching, mentoring, and development of swimmers, while promoting teamwork, leadership, and sportsmanship.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist the Head Swim Coach in implementing the competitive swim team program in accordance with the AGM, Aquatics, and the Aquatics Committee.
- Coach and mentor swimmers of all ages and skill levels during practices and swim meets, emphasizing technique, sportsmanship, and personal development.
- Attend all scheduled practices and swim meets during the Country Club Swimming and Diving Association (CCSDA) season.
- Support swim team-related events, including pep rallies, team meetings, and the end-of-season awards banquet.
- Assist with practice and meet preparation, including pool setup, takedown, and organizing equipment.
- Collaborate with coaching staff to identify and recommend swimmers for individual awards throughout the season.
- Provide Group, Semi-Private, and One-on-One swim lessons for members as opportunities arise and are approved by the AGM, Aquatics.
- Maintain professionalism and adhere to ANCC dress code and safety policies; ANCC-issued coach shirts are required at all team events.
Seasonal Schedule:
- Swim team practices run from the day after Memorial Day through the end of July.
- Practices are Monday through Friday at the Arlington Aquatic Facility.
- Swim meets are typically Tuesday and Thursday evenings, with occasional schedule adjustments.
- Swim lesson rates are determined by the instructor with AGM, Aquatics approval.
Requirements:
- Previous competitive swimming and/or coaching experience preferred.
- Strong ability to work with children, parents, and fellow coaches.
- Effective communication, teamwork, and leadership skills.
- CPR, First Aid, and Lifeguard Certification (or ability to obtain prior to the season).
Physical Demands:
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Work outdoors and in varying weather conditions.
- Stand, walk, and actively participate for extended periods.
