
Arlington Heights Memorial Library seeks an enthusiastic Tween Librarian to join our dynamic Youth Services team and collaboratively develop and deliver creative, hands-on, relevant, and adaptive services for our diverse tweens (grades 4-6) and their families.
In this position, you will connect with our tween customers and their caregivers directly in Kids' World. At the desk, you will provide reference, readers’ advisory, resources for homework, and answers to a variety of quirky questions. In the tween space and during programs, you will present opportunities to learn, make, hang out and meet new friends. As Tween Librarian, you will work with staff within and beyond the Youth Services department, as well as connecting with schools and community organizations to help steer library services for our community’s tweens. We are looking for someone who can be an advocate for tweens wherever they are.

The preferred candidate must also demonstrate ability to work effectively with staff and customers in alignment with Our Culture and IDEA.
Education: Master of Library Science required.
Hours and Scheduling: Full time 37.5 hours per week. Primarily Monday-Friday weekdays, with 1-2 evening shifts weekly and weekend shift rotations. Must be flexible for scheduling to present programs, support events, and serve at public service points.
Salary and Benefits:
Annual salary starting at $53,078–$66,347 depending on qualifications.

The Arlington Heights Memorial Library (AHML) is one of the busiest single-building libraries in the country. For the 11th time (in 2022), AHML received a five-star rating in Library Journal's national rating of public libraries, a designation received by only 10 public libraries nationwide, and only three in Illinois in the AHML budget category. The library serves a population of 75,000 Arlington Heights residents, as well as customers that visit from neighboring communities. The library opened the Makerplace, its 8,000-square-foot makerspace and center for hands-on experiential learning, at 112 N. Belmont Ave, in 2021.
