About this role

    Responsible for the check out and check in of materials, money handling, registering new customers for library cards and using the library’s databases to assist customers. Position works almost exclusively with the public and requires a positive and friendly customer service attitude. Ability to work well in a team environment required. Applies library circulation policies while providing Unparalleled Customer Service.


    Requirements & Skills: 

    Familiarity with Microsoft Office products (especially Outlook mail and Word) is required. Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast paced environment and excel in Our Culture.


    Education: 

    High School degree or equivalency.


    Hours and Scheduling: 

    Part-time, average 15 hours per week. Flexibility in scheduling and participation in weekend rotation required. Shifts include daytime, evenings and weekends hours on a six week rotation.

     

    Salary and Benefits: 

    Pay starts at $15.86/hour. No benefits.

    The Arlington Heights Memorial Library (AHML) is one of the busiest single-building libraries in the country. For the 11th time (in 2022), AHML received a five-star rating in Library Journal's national rating of public libraries, a designation received by only 10 public libraries nationwide, and only three in Illinois in the AHML budget category. The library serves a population of 75,000 Arlington Heights residents, as well as customers that visit from neighboring communities. The library opened the Makerplace, its 8,000-square-foot makerspace and center for hands-on experiential learning, at 112 N. Belmont Ave, in 2021.
