Dr. Stephanie Marita Carpenter at the Arizona State University is searching for a Clinical Research Coordinator to join her research team. The overall responsibility of this position will be to assist in conducting a research project aimed at understanding and treating tobacco and nicotine dependence among African American/Black adults who smoke, to reduce the physical, emotional, and financial consequences of tobacco use. This position will assist in the coordination of all research activities including: screening and enrolling participants, conducting assessments, providing tobacco cessation counseling, completing follow-up calls, and mailing study materials. This position will provide training to become a certified Tobacco Treatment Specialist.
Dr. Stephanie Marita Carpenter is an Assistant Professor in the Arizona State University College of Health Solutions. Her research aims to improve lives by conducting behavioral and social science research to better understand the impacts of health behaviors like tobacco use and addiction, and design and implement evidence-based interventions to reduce tobacco use.
This position is Hybrid and requires some work to be completed onsite at the ASU downtown Phoenix location.

Essential Duties:
Coordinates clinical research studies performing a variety of tasks and activities
Recruits, screens, selects, determines eligibility, and enrolls study participants and ensures subjects follow the research protocol
Develops study-related documents
Applies expertise, knowledge, and skills to a broad range of different types of clinical studies, navigates resources, and identifies issues needing escalation.
Contributes to development of new team and unit processes, procedures, staff, and tools.

The responsibility breakdown is outlined below:
5% Schedules logistics, determines workflows, and secures resources for a defined clinical research trial.
20% Recruits, screens, selects, determines eligibility and enrolls trial participants, collects information, and answers questions under supervision of a medically licensed professional. May perform basic medical assessments after completion of required training/certification, such as collecting vital signs, obtaining weight, and performing phlebotomy
20% Manages research workflow components, collects, prepares, processes, and submits participant data and samples to appropriate entities, adhering to research protocols
5% Identifies work unit resources needs and manages supply and equipment inventory levels
20% Serves as an initial point of contact for clinical research participants and clinical staff, providing information regarding research procedures, expectations, and informational inquiries. Ensures participants follow the research protocol and alerts Principal Investigator of issues
10% Performs quality checks

Demonstrated ability to learn new technology including virtual meeting/learning apps like Teams, Zoom, etc.

Experience with patient or customer interaction.
Demonstrated understanding of tobacco/nicotine addiction through personal experience, professional engagement, or close association with affected individuals.
Ability to follow detailed procedures.
Strong organizational and time management skills.
Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Working Environment:
