Job Summary

 

St. Margaret of Scotland Catholic School is seeking a caring, reliable, and energetic Part‑Time Aftercare Teacher to support our students at the end of the school day. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working with children, values a positive and faith‑centered environment, and is committed to creating a safe and welcoming space for students.

 

Position Overview
The Aftercare Teacher supervises students in grades K–8 during the after‑school program, ensuring their safety, engagement, and well‑being. The teacher helps maintain a structured routine that may include homework time, enrichment activities, outdoor play, and quiet time. This position requires strong communication skills, patience, and the ability to build positive relationships with students and families.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise and engage students during after‑school hours in a safe, nurturing environment.
  • Maintain consistent routines and expectations that support positive behavior.
  • Assist students with homework or quiet academic activities as needed.
  • Plan or facilitate age‑appropriate games, crafts, and enrichment activities.
  • Monitor attendance and ensure students are dismissed only to authorized adults.
  • Communicate effectively with parents, guardians, and school staff.
  • Uphold the mission and values of St. Margaret of Scotland Catholic School.
  • Ensure all program spaces are clean, organized, and used responsibly.
  • Follow school policies, safety procedures, and emergency protocols.

 

Qualifications

  • Experience working with children in a school, camp, or childcare setting preferred.
  • Ability to supervise groups of students with patience, consistency, and care.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Dependability and professionalism in attendance and conduct.
  • Willingness to support the Catholic identity and values of the school.
  • CPR/First Aid certification is a plus (or willingness to obtain).

 

Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate is enthusiastic, responsible, and committed to creating a positive after‑school experience for students. They enjoy interacting with children, can manage a variety of activities, and bring warmth and structure to the program.

 

Schedule & Hours
Part‑time hours typically fall between school dismissal and early evening. Specific scheduling will be discussed during the interview process.
