About this role


Responsibilities

The Sponsor is seeking an experienced Instructional Systems Designer (ISD) to evaluate training needs and to help develop high-quality training programs for Advanced AI and Counter AI topics. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in instructional design, experience with adult learning principles, and the ability to work closely with subject matter experts (SMEs) in AI and LLM technologies. The goal is to create engaging, effective, and scalable training solutions that support the development and deployment of LLMs. The successful candidate must:

  • Conduct analysis to identify training needs for LLM development, deployment, and application.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders and SMEs to understand the knowledge, skills, and attitudes required for effective LLM utilization.
  • Design and develop training content, including instructor-led training, e-learning modules, and performance support materials.
  • Apply adult learning principles and instructional design models to create engaging and effective learning experiences.
  • Work closely with AI/LLM experts to ensure the accuracy and relevance of training content.
  • Facilitate workshops and meetings with SMEs to gather content and validate training materials.
  • Develop prototypes of training materials and conduct formative evaluations to ensure effectiveness.
  • Iterate on training content based on feedback from SMEs and pilot testing.
  • Support the implementation of training programs, including train-the-trainer initiatives.
  • Develop evaluation plans to assess the effectiveness of training programs and identify areas for improvement.
  • Stay abreast of the latest developments in LLMs, AI, and related technologies to ensure training content remains current and relevant.
  • Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance skills in instructional design and emerging technologies.

Qualifications

  • Must possess and be able to maintain a TS/SCI clearance with polygraph. 
  • Bachelor’s degree with 12–15 years, Master’s degree with 10–13 years, or PhD with 10+ years of professional experience in Instructional Design, Educational Technology, or a related field; at least 3–5 years of specific experience in instructional design for adult learning and technical training.
  • Experience in designing training for technical or STEM fields is highly desirable.
  • Proficiency in authoring tools such as Articulate Storyline, Adobe Captivate, or similar.
  • Experience with Learning Management Systems (LMS) and learning analytics.
  • Familiarity with multimedia production tools and techniques.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with SMEs and stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to operate independently and be reliable, trustworthy, and committed to the program and team success.
  • Possess strong interpersonal skills with the ability to establish professional rapport in a small team environment and in exchanges with senior customers.
  • Proven track record of delivering results in the Customer environment, with emphasis on prior experience in program planning, management, execution, and serving as a senior advisor to customer leadership.
  • Understanding the Customer's mission, environment, constraints, technical landscape, and strategic direction.
  • Expertise with MS Office suite, including PowerPoint, Word, Excel, Visio, Outlook, Calendar, and Project. 

Desired Qualifications: 

  • Experience with AI, machine learning, or data science training content.
  • Knowledge of programming languages or experience working in a technical environment.
  • Certification in instructional design (e.g., CPTD, CTDP) or related fields.
  • Experience with Agile project management methodologies.
