Responsibilities

The Director of Physical and Technical Security reports directly to the Chief Security Officer and is responsible for developing, implementing, and managing the strategies that protect Arcfield’s personnel, physical assets and facilities using both physical measures and integrated technology.  As a federal government contractor, the role includes oversight and support of the company’s nation-wide facilities, ensuring compliance with federal regulations, contract-specific security requirements, technical and industry standards. The Director supports our national security program teams by providing guidance on security requirements for cleared facilities, assisting with security-related deliverables, and helping ensure successful accreditations and customer reviews. This position ensures a safe and secure environment while aligning security initiatives and protective measures with the unique obligations and expectations of government contracts.

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

Strategy & Planning

  • Develop and execute the organization's comprehensive security strategy, including policies, standards, and emergency response plans specific to physical and technical security.
  • Conduct regular risk assessments and threat/vulnerability reviews to guide investments and ensure a layered security posture.
  • Derive the annual and operational budgetary needs for the physical and technical security services that are delivered across all company locations.  
  • Maintain collaboration with senior leaders across all functions of the company to ensure physical security interests are maintained.

Operations Management

  • Oversee daily operations of integrated security systems, including access control, video surveillance (CCTV), intrusion detection systems, and perimeter barriers for all company locations.
  • Manage security personnel, including in-house teams and contracted guard forces, while coordinating with third-party vendors.

Technical Integration

  • Lead the convergence of physical and technological protection capabilities that together, deploy enterprise-wide security platforms and security services across an enterprise.
  • Oversee the design, implementation, and maintenance of integrated access control systems, intrusion detection, surveillance, and alarms that protect personnel, assets, and national security information.
  • Collaborate with IT, Risk Management and Facilities teams to ensure alignment of physical security controls with networked monitoring systems, incident response plans, and threat intelligence.
  • Conduct technical risk assessments and vulnerability analyses of controlled but uncleared facilities, Closed and Open Storage accredited facilities, SCIFs, and SAPF(s) to identify potential gaps and implement mitigation strategies.
  • Integrate advanced monitoring solutions, including real-time alerts, automated reporting, and analytics, to support program compliance and customer award fee documentation needs.
  • Evaluate emerging security technologies and recommend upgrades to enhance protection while maintaining compliance with federal regulations and contract-specific requirements.
  • Lead investigations of security incidents involving both physical and cyber elements, developing corrective actions and lessons learned for continuous improvement.

Incident & Crisis Management

  • Direct the response to security incidents, including coordinating investigations, reporting to law enforcement and regulatory agencies, and performing post-incident reviews with root cause analysis.

Compliance & Reporting

  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, contract-specific mandates, and internal policies.
  • Deliver physical and technical security postures that meet compliance with the NISPOM, ICD-705, and DoD 5205.07.
  • Manage budgets and report security performance metrics, risks, and mitigation strategies to executive leadership.

Program & Contract Support

  • Serve as the physical security liaison supporting multiple cleared programs to ensure all contract-specific security requirements are met prior to and throughout the period of performance.
  • Support award fee preparation by maintaining accurate, complete, and inspection-ready documentation, logs, and compliance records.
  • Provide guidance to program teams on physical security requirements for new classified proposals, modifications, or expansions.
  • Assist with security-related deliverables, reporting, and documentation required by government customers.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications and Skills

 

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in criminal justice, security management, business administration, or a related military discipline. Advanced degrees preferred.

Experience

  • Bachelor's (or equivalent) with 16+ years of experience, Master's with 14+ years of experience, or PhD with 10+ years of experience. At least 6 years in a management capacity.
  • In-depth understanding of LenelS2 access control systems.
  • Have demonstratable experience in managing Open Storage, SCIF and/or SAPF new build projects.
  • Experience in managing Accreditation processes for national security facilities.

Certifications

  • Professional certifications such as Certified Protection Professional (CPP) or Physical Security Professional (PSP) are strongly preferred.
  • Completion of an ICD-705 course.

Skills

  • Demonstrated leadership and team management capabilities.
  • Strong crisis management, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
  • Ability to collaborate across cross-functional teams and communicate effectively with executive leadership, government representatives and vendors.
  • Knowledge of regulatory compliance, contract requirements, and best practices for security program oversight.

Access

  • Must possess and maintain a TS/SCI security clearance with a Polygraph.

Location

  • This position is based in our Chantilly, VA office, and not eligible for remote work status.
