We are delighted to announce that we are currently recruiting for a Welder Fabricator join our manufacturing team at our Service centre in Rugby. As a member of our Manufacturing Operations team you will prepare and conduct manual and semi-manual welding and fabrications on assemblies of various components on steam turbine components within the business to achieve maximum efficiency within standard operating procedures.
Some of the work for this role is undertaken with UK Defence customers which will require any individual applying for the role to hold or be capable of getting SC Level clearance as a UK Passport Holder. Applicants not cleared will not be accepted into the business until this clearance is provided. Dual passport holders are acceptable if the second country is approved by the vetting authority.
Key responsibilities of the role;
- Prepare and conduct manual TIG and MMA welding on Diaphragm and Turbine components to meet high quality standards
- Welding include tight access TIG welding
- Set up fabrications using drawings and working to a high level specifications
- Setup Submerged Arc Welding (SAW) equipment
- Prepare and conduct standard fillet and butt TIG and MMA welding on various stainless and duplex steel components
- Ensure quality of product and operations to meet drawing and customer requirements to standard best practices
- Work as a team within the department, across shifts and support and implement the needs of the business in terms of operational flexibility
- Support and take part in all EHS, Quality, Continuous Improvement and New Product Introduction Initiatives
- To undertake any other duty and responsibility as may be required by the Line Manager
Qualifications and Experience
- Time Served Craft Apprentice or NVQ Level 3 in Mechanical Engineering or similar
- Experience in an industrial manufacturing environment
- Knowledge of steam turbines and generator industrial manufacture would be beneficial but not essential

- Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team
- Continuous Improvement/Lean experience desirable
- Strong oral and written communication skills
