 Schedule: 7:30am - 4:00pm

  • This role may involve shifts that are not finalized at the time of hire. Candidates must demonstrate flexibility and openness to a broad range of scheduling possibilities.
  • Candidates selected for this role are expected to disclose and coordinate any additional employment to avoid conflicts with assigned shifts.

 On-Call: Required
 Rate: Max $54/hr + $4.93 H&W

About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Registered Nurse (RN) to join the Cardiac Catheterization and Electrophysiology Lab (Cath/EP Lab) at the Miami VA Healthcare System. In this role, you’ll care for our Nation’s Veterans by supporting a wide range of diagnostic and interventional cardiology procedures, working alongside a collaborative team of physicians, technologists, and fellow nurses.


Primary Responsibilities

  • Deliver evidence-based nursing care to Veterans undergoing cardiac catheterizations, pacemaker/ICD implantations, angioplasties, valve replacements, TAVR, ablations, and other interventional procedures.
  • Provide pre-, intra-, and post-procedure care for both inpatients and outpatients.
  • Administer IV sedation and monitor patients throughout procedures.
  • Recognize and respond to changes in cardiac status, including interpretation of EKGs and hemodynamic data.
  • Assist with sterile procedures as a circulator and scrub nurse; ensure proper radiation safety.
  • Set up procedure rooms and manage supply inventory; ensure equipment is ready and safe to use.
  • Educate patients and families on what to expect before and after procedures.
  • Participate in quality improvement activities and support the training of new staff.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Active, unrestricted RN license in any U.S. state or territory.
  • Minimum 3 years of recent experience in Cath Lab, EP Lab, ICU, or similar acute care setting.
  • Current BLS and ACLS certifications through the American Heart Association (AHA) (required).
  • Strong knowledge of:
    • Cardiac diagnoses and related medications
    • Sterile technique and procedural workflows
    • Emergency response, including resuscitation and airway management
  • Comfortable working in high-acuity, fast-paced procedural environments and participating in an on-call rotation.
  • Excellent communication, documentation, and teamwork skills.

Desired Qualifications

  • Prior experience working with Veterans or in a federal healthcare facility
  • Familiarity with structural heart procedures and electrophysiology
  • Experience with VA systems (e.g., CPRS, VistA)
