Location: Muskogee, Oklahoma
Schedule: Monday–Friday, Days | On-Call Coverage: Minimal

Aptive is seeking a full-time Anesthesiologist to support a rewarding opportunity with the Eastern Oklahoma VA Health Care System in Muskogee, Oklahoma. Position Overview

The Anesthesiologist will provide comprehensive anesthesia care for patients undergoing surgical, diagnostic, and therapeutic procedures within the Eastern Oklahoma VA Health Care System. This position supports inpatient, outpatient, community-based outpatient clinics, and emergency department settings, delivering high-quality, patient-centered care in accordance with VA policies and community standards of practice. The role is well-supported operationally and clinically, with consistent staffing, defined schedules, and mission-aligned leadership. As the service continues to expand access, this provider will meaningfully contribute to program development and continuity of patient services.


Primary Responsibilities

Primary Responsibilities

  • Perform comprehensive pre-anesthesia evaluations, including history and physical examinations, risk assessment, and development of individualized anesthesia care plans.
  • Provide safe, high-quality anesthesia services across all practice settings, including general, regional, spinal, epidural, and monitored anesthesia care, in accordance with community and VA standards.
  • Manage airways in routine, complex, and emergent situations, including advanced airway techniques and mechanical ventilation as required.
  • Place and manage invasive monitoring devices, including arterial lines and central venous catheters, when clinically indicated.
  • Document anesthesia care, plans, and patient responses accurately and timely in the electronic medical record.
  • Supervise, guide, and provide clinical leadership to Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists (CRNAs) and other anesthesia personnel.
  • Mentor, teach, and support physicians, CRNAs, and residents in anesthesia techniques, airway management, and perioperative best practices.
  • Collaborate with perioperative and interdisciplinary teams to optimize operating room efficiency, patient flow, and overall quality of care.

Work Environment & Schedule

  • Monday–Friday, 7:00-3:30
  • On-Call Coverage: Minimal
  • Collaborative support from nursing and administrative personnel

Compensation & Benefits

  • $325,000-$400,000 salary
  • Eligibility for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP) up to $200,000

Minimum Qualifications

  • Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathy (DO) degree from an accredited medical school
  • Successful completion of an ACGME-accredited or AOA-approved residency program in Anesthesiology
  • Current, full, and unrestricted medical license in any U.S. state or territory
  • Demonstrated clinical competence in anesthetic management, supported by residency case logs or a hospital quality profile documenting recent clinical activity
  • Ability to provide anesthesia care across a range of modalities, including general, regional, spinal, epidural, and monitored anesthesia care
  • Competency in advanced and emergent airway management, including mechanical ventilation
  • Eligibility for VA credentialing and privileging in accordance with Medical Staff Bylaws and VA policies

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience practicing in a hospital-based or integrated healthcare system
  • Prior experience supervising or collaborating with Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists (CRNAs)
  • Proficiency in placement of arterial lines and central venous catheters
  • Experience with fiberoptic or other advanced airway techniques
  • Teaching or mentoring experience with physicians, CRNAs, or medical trainees
  • Familiarity with perioperative workflow optimization and operating room efficiency initiatives
  • Experience working within Veterans Affairs, federal healthcare systems, or similarly regulated environments
