About this role

At Apple, our products are revolutionizing the way people live across the globe. Within our RF/Analog IC design group, your role will be crucial in architecting and implementing highly integrated cellular receivers for 5G/LTE standards. We seek engineers who possess a deep system-level understanding to navigate complex performance trade-offs between noise, linearity, power consumption, and area. Our team is dedicated to finding optimal solutions that push the boundaries of what is possible in modern cellular transceivers. If you excel in dynamic settings, relish collaborative problem-solving, and seek to make a societal impact through your work, you might be the ideal candidate for our team. At Apple, you'll join a culture that encourages you to take ownership of your career, supported by colleagues committed to making a difference.

Description

In this role, you will apply your deep system-level knowledge to make critical design trade-offs. This involves architecting innovative solutions and designing the underlying circuits to optimally balance sensitivity, linearity, power consumption, and cost in complex multi-band and carrier aggregation scenarios. Your ability to see the bigger picture and find the best system-wide compromises—understanding how decisions in one block impact the entire chain—will be the key to your success.

Minimum Qualifications

Cellular Receiver Expertise: Demonstrated proficiency in multi-band cellular receiver architectures and the transistor-level design of core receiver blocks (LNAs, mixers, filters, ADCs). Your circuit design decisions should be driven by your understanding of system-level impacts and performance trade-offs. Trade-off Analysis: Proven ability to translate high-level system requirements into detailed, block-level specifications. You must have a holistic view of the entire receiver chain to make informed architectural and circuit-level trade-offs between noise figure, linearity, power, and area. This includes creating and managing system budgets (e.g., noise, linearity, phase noise) and understanding the interactions between the RF front-end, analog baseband, data converters, and digital processing. RF Simulation and Modeling: Skilled in using RF simulation tools to validate not only block-level performance but also system-level behavior under various 3GPP-defined test conditions. Expertise with EM simulation tools for designing and co-simulating critical components within the system context. Innovation and Learning: A history of innovation driven by a deep understanding of system constraints and opportunities for improvement.

Preferred Qualifications

BSEE/MSEE or PhD in Electrical Engineering with a focus on RF/Analog IC design. Apple is an Equal Opportunity Employer that is committed to inclusion and diversity. We also take affirmative action to offer employment and advancement opportunities to all applicants, including minorities, women, protected veterans, and individuals with disabilities.
