Provides general non-technical assistance to the perioperative staff. Responsible for transporting patients to the OR and back to the nursing units, pulling supplies/cases for surgeries, maintaining supplies in the operating room.
Maintains the area, equipment, and level of supplies.
Performs a variety of assisting and servicing activities, both with the patients and to help maintain the area.
Provides and gives cooperative and courteous service to patients, staff, visitors, and others as part of the organization’s commitment to quality services.
Works effectively as part of the healthcare team to facilitate the unit’s ability to meet its goals and objectives.
Attends all required safety training programs and can describe his/her responsibilities related to general safety, department/service safety, and specific job-related hazards.
Follows the hospital exposure control plans/bloodborne and airborne pathogens.
Performs all responsibilities/duties required by the patient as defined in the scope of service, to assure that the unique nature of the client is addressed.
Demonstrates respect and regard for the dignity of all patients, families, visitors, and fellow employees to ensure a professional, responsible and courteous environment.
Promotes effective working relations and works effectively as part of a department/unit team inter- and intradepartmentally to facilitate the department’s/unit’s ability to meet its goals and objectives.
Minimum EducationGraduate from high school preferred
Minimum Work Experience• Former experience as orderly or surgery experience preferred.
