We are seeking a Junior Mechanical Engineer to support the design, development, and build of mechanical systems used in industrial and automated equipment in our Product Development & Automation Group. This role is ideal for a hands-on engineer early in their career who enjoys both SolidWorks design work and working directly with hardware during prototyping, assembly, and testing.
You will work closely with senior engineers, tradespeople, and operations staff to turn concepts into working systems.
Key Responsibilities
Create and modify 3D models and 2D drawings in SolidWorks
Design and support systems involving:
Linear actuators
Pneumatic components and circuits
Electric motors, gearboxes, and drives
Pumps and basic fluid systems
Prepare BOMs, layouts, and fabrication/assembly drawings
Support hands-on assembly, testing, troubleshooting, and commissioning
Assist with prototype builds and design iterations based on real-world feedback
Work with manufacturing and trades staff to ensure designs are practical and buildable
Maintain engineering documentation and revision control
Required Qualifications
Diploma or Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering Technology
Proficiency with SolidWorks (parts, assemblies, drawings)
Basic understanding of:
Mechanical power transmission
Pneumatics
Motors and actuators
Pumps and fluid handling
Comfortable working in a shop or manufacturing environment
Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
Able to read and interpret mechanical drawings
