About The Role:
The Head of Superannuation Fund Accounting will lead a team responsible for delivering accurate and timely fund accounting, tax and financial reporting for superannuation clients. This role is accountable for the efficient day-to-day running of the operation and ensuring service delivery consistently meets agreed client SLAs and regulatory requirements. Success in the role will require building strong stakeholder and client relationships, driving process improvements, and maintaining a strong focus on quality and risk controls. The Head of Superannuation Fund Accounting Australia is also expected to provide clear, engaging leadership and develop a high-performing team culture.
Job Responsibilities:
The role duties and responsibilities will include but not limited to the following:
Provide strong leadership and foster a high-performance and accountable team culture
Maintain strong, consultative relationships with key clients and business stakeholders
Develop and maintain efficient processes, controls, and service delivery standards
Provide technical guidance, coaching, and support to team members on superannuation accounting and reporting requirements
Ensure all work is appropriately reviewed and signed off prior to release to clients and external stakeholders
Plan and allocate client assignments effectively across the team to meet reporting deadlines and BAU commitments
Monitor and track service delivery against plans, deadlines, KPIs, and SLAs
Conduct team meetings and regular one-on-ones to support performance, development, and engagement
Provide training and ongoing capability uplift to ensure the team remains current on regulatory changes and best practice
Projects
Manage and lead projects to improve superannuation fund accounting processes, controls, and procedures
Satisfy auditor, regulator, and client reporting requirements in line with agreed timelines and service standards
Support new business onboarding, operational readiness, and client transitions (inbound and outbound)
Partner closely with the Tax Manager and Audit Manager to ensure timely delivery of statutory obligations and audit support
Manage quarterly, half-year and year-end reporting cycles for allocated superannuation fund clients
Support risk, compliance, and governance initiatives, ensuring alignment with internal frameworks and regulatory obligations
Support strategic and operational initiatives to strengthen service delivery and client experience
Provide timely and accurate fund accounting services. Specifically:
Preparation of Tax Returns
Preparation of BAS Statements
Liaise with key internal and external stakeholders
Preparation of financial statements
Review current processes and procedures to recommend improvements
Respond to client and auditors requests in a timely and professional manner
Review and improve processes and procedures and ensure they are adequately documented
Manage the team that provides the above services
Manage fund accounting operation and the team
Provide strong leadership
Maintain strong, consultative relationship with key clients
Develop and maintain efficient processes
Provide technical guidance to team members
Ensure all work is adequately reviewed prior to issuance
Plan and effectively allocate client assignments amongst team members
Monitor and track services delivery against those plans
Conduct team meetings and one on ones on a regular basis
Provide training
Proven Experience & Qualifications
7-10 years’ experience in Superannuation fund administration industry or with a renowned superannuation business within Australia.
5+ years’ experience as a Superannuation Team Manager
Understanding and expert knowledge of superannuation fund accounting requirements
Experience with superannuation systems
Deep knowledge of fund accounting processes
