About the role
Anthropic is seeking a Director, FX & Investments to join our Treasury team. In this foundational role, you will build and lead Anthropic's foreign exchange, investments, and risk management programs from the ground up. As we experience exponential growth, you will be instrumental in ensuring optimal capital allocation, protecting our financial assets, and establishing the policies and infrastructure needed to support our expanding global operations. This role reports directly to the Treasurer.
This is a rare opportunity to shape critical Treasury functions at a high-growth AI company. You will design and implement our FX hedging strategy, build out our investment management capabilities (both external and in-house), and establish comprehensive risk management frameworks. This role will work closely with Finance leadership, Accounting, Legal, and cross-functional teams to align Treasury operations with broader financial strategies and business objectives.
Responsibilities:
Design, build, and implement Anthropic's foreign exchange risk management program, including policy development, hedging strategies, and operational execution
Develop and execute investment strategies for corporate cash, managing relationships with external investment managers while building in-house investment capabilities
Establish and maintain comprehensive risk management frameworks covering liquidity risk, interest rate risk, counterparty risk, and other key financial exposures
Create Treasury policies and procedures that scale with Anthropic's rapid growth, ensuring appropriate controls and governance
Develop reporting and analytics to provide visibility into Treasury performance, risk exposures, and capital allocation effectiveness
Partner with FP&A and Strategic Finance to support liquidity forecasting, scenario planning, and capital allocation decisions
Collaborate with Legal and Accounting teams to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and proper accounting treatment for Treasury activities
You may be a good fit if you have:
8+ years of relevant experience in Treasury, corporate finance, or portfolio management, with deep expertise in FX risk and investment management
Proven track record of building or significantly scaling Treasury programs, preferably in a high-growth technology environment
Strong understanding of hedging instruments, investment products, and risk management frameworks
Experience developing and implementing Treasury policies and controls
Exceptional analytical skills with the ability to synthesize complex financial data into actionable insights
Outstanding communication skills with the ability to explain complex Treasury concepts to non-finance stakeholders
Comfort working cross-functionally and building relationships across an organization
Strong judgment and decision-making abilities, particularly in ambiguous situations
Excitement about working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and adapting well to change

The annual compensation range for this role is below. For sales roles, the range provided is the role’s On Target Earnings ("OTE") range, meaning that the range includes both the sales commissions/sales bonuses target and annual base salary for the role. Our total compensation package for full-time employees includes equity and benefits.
Logistics
Education requirements: We require at least a Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience.
Location-based hybrid policy: Currently, we expect all staff to be in one of our offices at least 25% of the time. However, some roles may require more time in our offices.
