General Summary:
The ARISE Health Lab, in partnership with Policy Research Associates, is hiring Program Facilitators to deliver an education curriculum as part of the Rise & Thrive study. Facilitators will work directly with adolescents and young adults to implement either an Adulting Skills curriculum or a Community Engagement curriculum designed to reduce chronic stress and promote mental well-being.
Essential Job Functions:
1. Facilitate educational lessons on social issues, and adult life skills, fostering an environment that encourages dialogue and critical thinking.
2. Provide program assistance and knowledge related to the program initiatives and program processes.
3. Engage and support youth by building strong relationships with participants, foster community building throughout the course, and encourage and model self and community care.
4. Encourage leadership and inspire students to identify and address social justice issues, providing opportunities for them to develop leadership skills and become involved in activism within their communities.
5. Monitor participant progress and engagement, offering feedback and support to ensure that each participant is receiving the full benefit of the program.
6. Collaborate and work alongside other educators, facilitators, and the research team to continuously improve and document curriculum effectiveness.
7. Assist in the development of informational program materials.
8. Coordinate schedules and training for the program.
9. Answer questions related to curricula for cohort/program attendees.
10. Other job functions as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
1. 1 year of experience working directly with adolescents in educational, social service, or organizing settings required.
1. HS Diploma /GED required.
2. 1 years of experience working directly with adolescents in educational, social service, or organizing settings required.
3. Strong facilitation and teaching skills, with the ability to engage young people in dynamic, interactive learning experiences about social justice, race, and/or activism (preferred).
4. Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present complex topics in a relatable and accessible way (required).
5. Empathy and emotional intelligence, with the ability to work with youth from diverse backgrounds and support them in personal and professional growth (required).
6. A strong understanding of racial justice issues, social equity, health disparities, and youth development principles (required).
7. Previous experience in leading or facilitating social justice workshops, activism programs, or life skills training for youth (required).
8. A background in community organizing, education, behavioral health, mental health, psychology, social work, sociology, or related fields is preferred. We highly value lived experience in community organizing and these other specialized areas (preferred).
9. Familiarity with community-based organizations and outreach efforts focused on public health, youth empowerment, and social issues broadly, but specifically in Chicago (preferred).

Pay Range
$21.00-$32.55 HourlyAt Lurie Children’s, we are committed to competitive and fair compensation aligned with market rates and internal equity, reflecting individual contributions, experience, and expertise. The pay range for this job indicates minimum and maximum targets for the position. Ranges are regularly reviewed to stay aligned with market conditions.
