
Job DetailsJob Location: Oakdale, MN 55128Position Type: Full TimeSalary Range: $23.00 - $27.00 HourlyJob Shift: Evening/SwingThe Primary function of the Wards Veterinary Technician - in the ER and Critical Care Department is to provide exceptional care of both patients and clients by service as an extension of the veterinarian. The ER/ICU Wards Technician is expected to perform, guide and monitor low level acuity patients through discharge. To promote professional growth through education and learning opportunities. This position will report directly to the ER/ICU SupportTeam Managers.
Essential Role
Entry level veterinary technician position providing care and wellbeing of low acuity patients prior to medical discharge
Perform 1131 cat care life check process as requested or required
Work alongside Specialty Services as necessary to manage wards admittance, treatments, procedures and discharge
Ensure ward's area is clean and well stocked for the next team member
Full-time team members are required to work a minimum of 30 hours per week. Part-time team members are required to work a minimum of 30 hours per month, but not more than 29.5 hours in one week.
Patient Care
Demonstrate high level math skills
Demonstrate comprehensive understanding of medications and diseases
Report any sentinel events to DVM and Charge Technician-ensure DVM reports sentinel event
Confirm treatments and charges are correct in EMR

QualificationsPhysical Requirements
Excessive walking and standing, frequent squatting and lifting
Able to work at all clinic locations
Incur risk of injury from animals
Ability to work well under pressure and high levels of stress
Incur exposure to zoonotic diseases, radiation, anesthesia and possible hazardous medications or substances
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
A.AS. or B.S. Degree in Veterinary Technology from an AVMA accredited school.
Current certification, license, or registration as a Veterinary Technician. VTS is a plus.
Two years in practice.
