EHS SPECIALIST

 

 

JOB SUMMARY:

 

EHS Specialist is responsible for managing environmental, health, and safety activities and provide technical guidance to improve workplace safety conditions and ensure compliance with applicable regulations.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Coordinate environmental, health, and safety activities through strong leadership and communication.

  • Coordinate and provide environmental health and safety training for team members.

  • Conduct new hire orientation provide environmental health safety training.

  • Investigate work related injuries and/or illnesses, provide statistical analysis, and assist in the development of effective health and safety countermeasures to continuously improve safety objectives.

  • Ensure legislative compliance with Federal, state and local regulations.

  • Lead the Safety Team and help to coordinate activities, recommendations, and accountability of issues identified by the team.

  • Conduct routine safety observation tours, with effective follow-up.

  • Coordinate emergency evacuation procedures, training, and practice drills.

  • Coordinate chemical awareness training and monitor on a continuous basis.

  • Environmental Responsibilities (as required) - ensure all environmental reports are submitted accurately and on time pertaining to areas such as: land; air; water and hazardous waste. 

  • Manage pollution prevention program according to local regulations

  • Coordinate and manage hazardous waste program.

  • Coordinate recycling efforts of all recyclable scrap.

  • Serve as the ISO 14000 Management Representative.

  • All other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree or technical certifications in related field preferred not required.
  • Experience: 3+ years’ experience in related field and/or automotive manufacturing environment.

TRAVEL: 

  • Travel Required: minimum 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Able to understand Environmental and Safety standards.

  • Good communication skills including a high level of competency in writing and speaking skills.

  • High level of interpersonal skills to work effectively with all team members.

  • Good organizational and administrative skills.

  • Strong communication, negotiation, problem solving and teamwork skills.

  • Open minded, willing to take responsibility, result oriented.

  • Microsoft Office tools experience.

  • Demonstrated use of data-based decision making and problem solving.
