DESIGN RELEASE ENGINEER

 

JOB SUMMARY:

 

As a Design Release Engineer, you will have the knowledge and experience related to fasteners, headliner components (including adhesive patches), hot melt glue, clips and 3D CAD. You will utilize your ability to conduct self-reviews to ensure completeness of design, while being able to seek clarification when uncertainty exists over data/design intent. You will be required to execute job responsibilities with minimal direction/supervision and apply learning to future designs.

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  • Provide purchasing with product engineering specifications and requirements in support of sourcing.
  • Complete assigned engineering change tasks on time.
  • Collect, organize, and comprehend component requirements from our customer.
  • Utilize product material and design experience to ensure supplier plan will meet defined requirements.
  • Define, track, and share status of deliverables, weekly.
  • “Embrace the Red” - escalate at-risk deliverables and develop Red to Green action plan.
  • Identify and support Kaizen through product related improvements for all sites and customers.
  • Develop and improve related business systems as the subject matter expert.
  • Develop and improve related software and solutions.
  • Support and collaborate with Quality team in their related deliverables.
  • Receive and manage component issues to resolve with our customers and suppliers.
  • Establishing 3rd party and tracking the required component and assembly testing.
  • All other duties as assigned.

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university.
  • Experience: 5+ years related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Associate must have experience in 3D CAD.

  • COMPUTER/PC SKILLS:
    • Associate must possess proficiency in current 3D design software, as well as an ability to effectively utilize MS Word, MS Excel, and MS Mail / Exchange.
    • Associate is expected to develop appropriate knowledge of our ERP system as required to perform his/her duties.
  • LANGUAGE SKILLS:
    • Ability to read, interpret and apply technical data, drawings, and reports to the design of change parts as would be expected within the packaging and design profession. Ability to effectively respond to inquiries from customers, vendors, other associates and members of the packaging, design, and business community.
  • MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
    • Ability to apply common mathematical concepts required to practical design situations.
  • ANALYTICAL REASONING SKILLS
    • Ability to appropriately interpret technical data, anticipate design issues such as interferences, and develop appropriate designs.
