Position Summary

Diamond Power: Member of the Andritz Group is a leader in energy and environmental products and services for power and industrial markets worldwide. Our headquarters in Lancaster, Ohio is currently seeking a Welding Engineer to join our Lancaster Operations team out of the Lancaster, Ohio facility. The Welding Engineer will provide support to the manufacturing and engineering departments in the areas of welding, including robotic welding and programming; materials, manufacturing process improvement and development; and special project management.

 

Duties

  • Serves as welding subject matter expert (SME) for Lancaster manufacturing and engineering.
  • Provides technical support to production teams for all welding-related operations.
  • Programs and configures welding equipment to meet production and quality requirements.
  • Develops tooling and fixturing for welded products to ensure efficiency and compliance.
  • Qualifies and maintains welding procedures, including writing new procedures and updating existing.
  • Qualifies welders and manages welder continuity records to maintain certification standards.
  • Troubleshoots and supports maintenance on welding equipment, including mechanized and robotic systems.
  • Conducts failure analysis and provides metallurgical recommendations for material-related issues and product integrity.
  • Specifies welding equipment and related technology for capital projects, ensuring alignment with production needs and industry standards.

 

Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Five (5) plus years of experience in welding engineering within an industrial manufacturing environment.
  • Hands-on experience with welding processes, including GTAW (Gas Tungsten Arc Welding), GMAW (Gas Metal Arc Welding), and SMAW (Shielded Metal Arc Welding).
  • Experience programming and operating robotic welding systems, preferably utilizing FANUC robots.
  • Strong background in materials science and metallurgy, including failure analysis and material selection.
  • Working knowledge of ASME and AWS welding codes and standards, with demonstrated application in production settings.
  • Experience developing and qualifying welding procedures, including welder qualification and continuity management.
  • AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) certification preferred but not required.
