Senior Robotic Sensor Engineer

The Dexterous AI Group (DAG) is seeking a Senior Robotic Sensor Engineer to design, prototype, and characterize sensors for AI-powered dexterous manipulation. You will work hands-on developing ADI's next-generation sensor hardware for humanoid robots, contributing to the full sensor development cycle from concept through validation while collaborating with our multidisciplinary robotics team.

Responsibilities:

  • Design and iterate sensors and associated electronics, including rapid prototyping and fabrication process design.
  • Develop and execute sensor characterization plans: define test procedures, build fixtures, collect data, and analyze results.
  • Implement readout electronics and signal conditioning circuits (AFE, ADC, filtering) for low-noise sensor operation.
  • Support integration of sensors into robot platforms, ensuring mechanical and electrical compatibility and robustness.
  • Contribute to simulation and modeling efforts using tools such as COMSOL to inform sensor design decisions.
  • Document designs, test results, and specifications; participate in design reviews and cross-functional discussions.
  • Collaborate with AI, software, and mechanical teams to ensure sensor outputs meet manipulation and learning requirements.

Qualifications:

  • BS in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Physics, or related field required; MS or PhD preferred.
  • 3-5 years of experience in sensor design, MEMS, microelectronics, or related hardware development.
  • Hands-on experience device design (layout and simulation) and characterizing sensors (tactile, force, pressure, or similar transducers).
  • Experience in analog/mixed-signal electronics: amplifier design, noise analysis, grounding, and signal integrity.
  • Experience with sensor fabrication techniques and electronic lab equipment (oscilloscopes, DAQs, precision instruments).
  • Familiarity with 3D CAD tools and basic mechanical design for sensor packaging.
  • Strong data analysis skills, preferably using Python or MATLAB.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with FEA/multiphysics simulation tools (COMSOL, ANSYS).
  • Exposure to manufacturing processes and DFM considerations (flex circuits, thin-film, molding).
  • Familiarity with robotics platforms, ROS, or real-time embedded systems.
  • Experience with tactile or haptic sensing technologies.
