Position Summary

The Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) Engineer is responsible for ensuring full compliance with applicable environmental, health, and safety regulations at a federally regulated manufacturing site. This role oversees the implementation and continuous improvement of the site’s EHS management systems, including ISO 14001 and ISO 45001, and supports operational excellence through risk mitigation, regulatory adherence, and the promotion of a strong safety culture. The EHS Engineer serves as a technical resource to site leadership, operations, engineering, and contractor teams.

The ideal candidate will have the following qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Engineering, Safety Engineering, Industrial Hygiene, or a related technical discipline.
  • 3+ years of Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Engineering, Safety Engineering, Industrial Hygiene, or a related technical discipline.
  • Working knowledge of legal requirements and best practices in the field, at a federal and state level (OSHA, EPA, etc.)
  • Ability to obtain and maintain federal security clearance.
  • Previous experience conducting effective and engaging training.
  • Excellent computer and verbal/written communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Professional certifications such as CSP, ASP, CIH, or CHMM.
  • Experience with ISO 14001 and/or ISO 45001 management systems.
  • Experience supporting construction or capital project EHS oversight.
  • Prior experience in a federally regulated or high‑security environment.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local environmental, health, and safety regulations, including OSHA, EPA, and state environmental agency requirements.
  • Manage hazardous waste activities in accordance with RCRA, including proper accumulation, labeling, storage, documentation, and disposal.
  • Maintain and support the site’s Environmental Management System (EMS) in alignment with ISO 14001/45001, including documentation, audits, inspections, and corrective actions.
  • Conduct risk assessments, job hazard analyses, process safety evaluations, and other hazard identification activities to support safe operations.
  • Develop, deliver, and document EHS training programs for employees, contractors, and visitors.
  • Lead incident investigations, perform root‑cause analyses, and ensure timely implementation and verification of corrective and preventive actions.
  • Conduct routine EHS inspections, audits, and assessments to verify compliance and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Promote a strong, proactive safety culture through communication, engagement, and leadership presence on the manufacturing floor.

The expected wage range for a new hire into this position is $82,400 to $113,300.
  • Actual wage offered may vary depending on work location, experience, education, training, external market data, internal pay equity, or other bona fide factors.

  • This position qualifies for a discretionary performance-based bonus which is based on personal and company factors.
