Pay Details:
The starting hourly rate for this position is $40.00 per hour.This position is responsible for teaching Off-Ice Strength and Conditioning in groups, supporting company or facility events, and promoting Great Park Ice & The Rinks while embodying the company’s values and mission.
Responsibilities
Teach group-format Strength & Conditioning (S&C) classes in various styles, including our Academy Program, Learn-to-Skate Program, Home School Program, community classes, facility and company-sponsored events, figure skating camps, etc.
Assist and work with the GPI Off-Ice Lead in the design, structure, developmental progression, and curriculum of S&C classes
Work with Scot Prohaska, lessee of the dryland training area, and the GPI Off-Ice Lead as needed
Follow the facility’s Academy curriculum
Attend PowerPlay sessions
Maintain a professional approach with a growing clientele
Provide positive, constructive feedback when evaluating skaters and other clients of Great Park Ice & the Rinks
Must strictly maintain professional communication at all times with parents, skaters, other coaches, operations staff, and management
Meet all company standards and comply with instructor guidelines and requirements, including SafeSport, Insurance, NCSI Background Check (as implemented by U.S. Figure Skating), and abiding by the Code of Ethics for U.S. Figure Skating and Professional Skaters Association
Warmly and professionally interact with customers while promoting Great Park Ice & The Rinks values
Communicate facility and company program information to guests and support the company’s pursuit of excellence in all areas of figure skating, dance, hockey, and recreational skating
Provide recommendations for individual advancement through the programs offered in Great Park Ice & The Rinks facilities
Other duties as assigned
Skills
Experience in the Strength & Conditioning/Sports Science industry, including personal competitive history, professional experience, and coaching experience
Working knowledge of U.S. Figure Skating, Learn to Skate USA, Professional Skaters Association, ISU and IJS preferred
Have SafeSport Compliance, NCSI Background Check, and Liability Insurance
Present a professional, motivating, and enthusiastic teaching style
Direct a class efficiently using time management skills
Maintain accurate records
Passionate about growing the sport of figure skating and involved in its growth
Must possess outstanding interpersonal and communication (verbal & written) skills, including enjoying interacting with guests and creating a welcoming environment for skaters
Able to establish and maintain effective working relationships with individuals with varied personalities and at different levels
Able to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and early morning and evenings as needed
Able to communicate Great Park Ice & The Rinks vision and commitment to quality service, products, and entertainment
Is a service-minded, self-starter who is highly motivated and has energy, enthusiasm, assertiveness, drive, and a sense of fun
Enjoy working in a fast-paced environment
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
Education - Bachelor's Degree
Certifications Required – Recommended Sports & Conditioning Specialist, Personal Training Certification, Group Fitness Certification, Performance Enhancement Training
Experience Required - 3-5 Years
