Conservation Graduate School Summer Internship - $6000 ($21.43 per hour), June 1 -July 24
A Housing allowance of $2,000 for the summer is supplied as well as a $800 reimbursement for travel to and from Fort Worth.
The Amon Carter Museum of American Art is seeking a conservation graduate school intern in the discipline of works on paper or photography for 8-weeks, 35 hours a week from June to July 2026.
The summer internship will provide the conservation graduate students with an opportunity to assist the conservation staff in a variety of activities and treatments, including working alongside pre-program interns. Some of the projects slated for completion include collection inventories, surveys, and re-housing, as well as object examination and treatment. The interns will work directly with Conservation and Collections Management staff.
The conservation laboratory at the Amon Carter Museum specializes in conserving works on paper and photography, providing a unique opportunity for the intern to work with both disciplines or focus on one or the other.
This internship is open to:
Currently enrolled conservation graduate students, or those with equivalent experience.
QualificationsPreferred Skills
Hands on experience with the conservation treatment of works on paper or photography.
Experience working with museum or archive collections.
Familiarity with relational databases and data processing.
Strong attention to detail, patience, and fine motor skills; excellent hand-eye coordination.
Ability to work collaboratively with Museum staff and volunteers.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
A working knowledge of the American Institute for Conservation's Code of Ethics and Guidelines for Practice.
Compensation: $6000/21.43 per hour, Housing allowance of $2,000 and $800 travel reimbursement.
Duration: 8-week internship, 35 hours a week, June – July
