About this role

Regions Hospital has a full-time opportunity on Night shift for a Safety & Security Officer to join our team! This position is responsible for providing and maintaining a safe and secure environment of the patients, visitors, and staff of Regions Hospital.  Regions Hospital is an inner-city Level 1 Trauma Center with a large inpatient mental health care setting.  The security officer will proactively build relationships with patients and employees to resolve conflict by using approved conflict resolution techniques, partnering with law enforcement and other community partners to address criminal offenses or emergent situations such as fire, threat to the facility, or violence. Security Officers provide a variety of services ranging from routine patrols, report writing, video surveillance, investigative services and other duties. May function as Security Lead as needed and selected by leadership.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: 

Education, Experience or Equivalent Combination:

  • Two years of combined experience working in security, law enforcement, military 

Or

  • Two years of healthcare experience or Fire/EMS experience

Or 

  • Successful completion of two years of college or technical college course work preferably in law enforcement or criminal justice or healthcare.   

 

Licensure/ Registration/ Certification:

  • Valid driver’s license in good standing

    • Basic Life Support certification required within 6 months of hire (tracked by department)

    • Basic IAHSS Certification from the International Association of Healthcare Security and Safety within 6 months of hire (tracked by department)
