The Design Ops Director role at Amex GBT is focused on elevating the UX design team's performance and operational excellence. The ideal candidate will transform design operations through systematic process improvements, advanced tool integration, and robust governance frameworks, and delivering measurable performance outcomes that align with broader organizational objectives. By bridging technical expertise with design innovation, the Design Ops Director will play a critical role in fostering a high-performance, collaborative design ecosystem. What You’ll Do:

• Develop, maintain, and evolve the organization's design systems for consistency and scalability across platforms
• Implement and update design guidelines, standards, and governance
• Analyze and streamline design team processes and workflows
• Develop quarterly UX performance reports for senior leadership
• Monitor and analyze important UX metrics and performance indicators
• Develop dashboards and visualization tools for performance tracking
• Evaluate, select, and implement design collaboration tools
• Manage vendor relationships and design tool, and integrate design tools with broader product development ecosystem
• Track design team expenses for T&E and training
• Negotiate contracts and service agreements

What We’re Looking For:

• 7-10 years of experience in design operations or a similar strategic role
• Proven track record of design team efficiency optimization
• Advanced understanding of UX design principles and organizational design
• Outstanding communication and cross-functional collaboration skills
• Proficiency in design tools, analytics, and management platforms
• Hands-on experience integrating AI tools into design processes
• Proficiency with React development frameworks
• Understanding of JSON data structures and API interactions
• Ability to bridge technical and design team communication

The US national base salary range for this position is from 

The national range provided includes the base salary that GBT expects to pay for the role.  Actual base salary will be based on factors including the scope and complexity of the role and the successful candidate’s relevant experience, skills, knowledge, and work location.

In addition to base salary, the anticipated range of which is posted above, this role is eligible for a discretionary annual bonus, which rewards participants based on company and individual performance and is also eligible for awards under our Equity Incentive Plan.
