Description
The Pad Mill Utility is the "Jack of all Trades" who covers all positions in our pad mill for other associates out on PTO. This could mean running a pad machine for a week, driving a forklift, working in the loft, or working on a pad machine doing assembly-line style of work. This job is perfect for someone who likes to learn it all and enjoys not knowing what they might be doing each day, but also is okay with doing the same task for days or weeks at a time, depending on production needs.
The Pad Mill Utility works 5:00 AM - 3:30 PM Monday - Thursday and 5:00 AM - 1:30 PM on Mandatory Fridays.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Reads work order or follows oral instructions to ascertain materials to be produced or containers to be moved.
- Loads and unloads materials onto or from pallets, trays, racks, and shelves by hand or with forklift truck.
- Loads materials into vehicles and installs strapping, bracing, or padding to prevent shifting or damage in transit.
- Conveys materials from storage or work sites to designated area.
- Counts, weighs, and records number of units of materials moved or handled on daily production sheet.
- Attaches identifying tags or labels to materials or marks information on cases, bales, or other containers.
- Stacks or assembles materials into bundles and bands bundles together.
- Removes samples of materials, labels with identifying information, and takes samples to laboratory for analysis.
- Lifts heavy objects by hand or with power hoist, and cleans work area, machines, and equipment to assist machine operators.
- Fills in for machine operators and takes the responsibility for the crew and product on that machine when working as the operator.
- Makes simple adjustments or repairs.
- Assembles boxes to contain products.
- Keeps area clean of debris.
- Replaces or relieves employees and able to perform all job functions within the designed area.
- Operates Machinery such as Target Press, Scruncher, Bundle Press, and Baler.
- Other duties may be assigned.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: While performing any of these jobs, the employee is regularly required to stand; use hands to finger, handle, clench, grip, or feel objects, tools, or controls; and reach with hands and arms. This job requires repetitive hand, arm, and wrist movements. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 40 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
WORK ENVIRONMENT: Steel/composite toe boots/shoes and safety glasses are required. The working conditions are noisy and dusty; associates are regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts.
CANDIDATE MUST SUCCESSFULLY PASS PRE-EMPLOYMENT PHYSICAL, JOB FUNCTIONALITY TEST, and DRUG AND ALCOHOL TEST.
