Job Summary
Kickstart your accounting career in a supportive, fast-moving environment where your work matters. The Accountant I or II provides essential accounting support for AEP companies, with responsibilities centered on preparing and reviewing journal entries, performing account reconciliations, and contributing to the general ledger close process. As you progress from Accountant I to Accountant II, you’ll take on more complex assignments and a greater level of review responsibility. This role plays a key part in maintaining accuracy, compliance, and financial integrity across the AEP system while supporting a culture of excellence and innovation.Job Description
What You'll Do:
Prepare and review journal entries and general ledger account reconciliations.
Ensure compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley requirements and assist with balance sheet reviews and detailed account analysis.
Participate in monthly, quarterly, and annual closing processes, including variance analysis and financial integrity checks.
Assist in preparing FERC financial reports and GAAP financial statements, including footnotes and MD&A.
Support internal management reporting and respond to auditor data requests.
Provide analysis and support for regulatory filings and proceedings.
Develop and cultivate positive business relationships between Accounting and other AEP business partners.
Proactively assess, develop and enhance processes and procedures on a continuous basis.
What We're Looking For:

Education:
Experience: (Accountant II Only)
Other Must Haves:
Strong understanding of GAAP and regulatory reporting requirements.
CPA or progress towards certification preferred.
Proficiency in Microsoft products and familiarity with ERP systems. Peoplesoft experience a plus.
Demonstrate the highest standards of ethical behavior.
Analytical mindset with attention to detail and accuracy.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
