Role Description:
We are seeking a Project Manager (Level 3) to support Defence capability initiatives within a strategic headquarters environment. This Above the Line role will provide project management leadership across planning, coordination, reporting, and stakeholder engagement activities.


The Project Manager will work closely with Commonwealth stakeholders to support capability development, governance forums, and committee deliverables. The role requires strong coordination skills, adaptability, and the ability to manage competing priorities in a high-pressure environment.

Essential Requirements:
- Minimum 7 years’ experience in project management within Defence or government.
- Degree in project management, business, engineering, or a related discipline; or equivalent Defence industry experience.
- Demonstrated ability to manage complex projects across the Defence capability lifecycle.
- Strong understanding of Defence governance frameworks, including capability planning, committee processes, and reporting requirements.
- Experience preparing project documentation, briefs, and artefacts for senior stakeholders.
- Proven ability to manage risks, issues, and dependencies across multidisciplinary teams.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Must hold a minimum NV1 security clearance with the ability to upgrade to NV2 and be an Australian citizen.

Desirable Requirements:
- Background in the ADF or APS Defence environment.
- Experience supporting capability development, maturity assessments, or Defence committee deliverables.
- Familiarity with Defence standards and frameworks, including CASG, ASDEFCON, and Capability Life Cycle.
- Experience coordinating with domestic and international partners.
- NV2 clearance or higher.

Required Security Clearance Level: NV2 or willingness to upgrade
